One public function of
a chartered bank is to
furnish a safe and con-

for the surplus cash of
the people. . . . .
e
HE establishment of branches of a bank in each small
T
centre of population, is to meet the convenience of
f/AQ the local citizens, and afford them, both a "clearing
house" for business transactions and a satisfactory
custodian of savings.
Every local branch of a Chartered Bank has the full
financial strength of the Head Office.
The. Capital and Reserve of THE BANK OF HAMIL-

Thirty Million Dollars. All this stands as security for every
dollar deposited for safekeeping in the local branch of the
Bank.
The point is, that the Chartered Bank is the natural place to
keep your money, and safe, sure and convenient.
THE BANK OF HAMILTON specially invites the

A Reactionary Storm Period hioentr
on the 7th and 8th. This period
covered by the :denary disturbance a
will bring renewal of low barometer a
storms of rain and possibly sleet au
snow. With so many other causes bee
ing on this Mercury period, late in t
season as it is, people in the norther
eectfous should not be surprised by d
tor uotive sleet storms, and even blizzard
at either of the first three storm period
iu April,
A Regular Storm Period, Ombra:110
toe central days of both the Mars an
the Mercury Periods, covers the 11th t
16th, being central with Moon's las
quarter on the 13th. This is anothe
period when the characteeistios of th
Mars influence will be present to a mark
ed degree. Vicious thunder storm
heavy rains, with destructive hail i
many loualities, will result at this time
if boreal influences have not phenomen
ally domivated storm and weather thu
far in rhe Mars period.
A Reactionary Storm Period is oentra
on the 18th, 19th and 20th, embracin
moou in perigee and on the oelestia
equator on the 18th and New Moon o
the 19th. This period promises to b
practically a prolongation of the prece
ing period, caused by the continued in
finances of Mercury, Earth, Venus an
Mars. The disturbances of this perio
will be characterized mainly by the sam
kind of phonomena. Oa and tonohin
the 18th and 19th sudden high tempera
ture, with very threatening barometer,
and thunder, rain and hail are most
probable. Tornadoes are not improbable
iu many sections central and southward.
A period of five days, taking noon on the
19th as the centre, is a time of great
seismic probability. A casual watch of
the world's telegraphic reports will con-
firm the truth of this, and other similar
forecasts. Frosts, and much cooler will
follow this period.
A Regular Storm Period is central on
the 25th, covering the 23rd to 28th, hav-
ing Moon at greatest declination north
on the 24th, and at first quarter on the
97th. Another marked hall of the bar-
ometer will ret in to the west at the en-
trance of this period, followed closely by
cloudiness, higher temperature and rain
Storm areas will grow wider and gain
intensity as they reach central parts of
their eastward march. From about the
25th to 28th etorme will culminate from
the Miaeissippi valley, eastward to the
Atlantic. High barometer, west winds,
and possible snow squalls to the north-
ward need not be a surprise on the rear
tangents of these storm areas. Much
cooler weather with frost will be quite
natural during the last four or five
nights of the month.

SHAKE IN A BOTTLE.
Advice of Noted Authority, Also Gives
a Simple Prescription.
Now is the time when the dootor gets
busy, and the patent medicine mannfao-
turers reap the harvest, unless great ogre
is taken to dress warmly and keep the
feet dry. This is the advice of an old
eminent authority, who says that Rhen-
matiem and Sidney trouble weather is
here, and also tells what to do in case of
an attack.
Get from any good prescription phar-
macy one-half ounce Fluid Extrnot
Dandelion, one ounce Oompound Sar.
gon, three ounces Compound Syrup
Sarsaparilla, Mix by shaking in a bot-
tle and take a teaspoonful after meals
aud at bedtime.
Just try this simple home-made mix-
ture at the first sign of Rheumatism,
or if your back aches or you feel that
the kidneys are not acting just right.
This is said to be a splendid kidney
regulator, and almost certain remedy
for all forms of Rheumatism, which is
paused by uric acid in the blood, whioh
the kidneys fail to filter oat. Any one
Nan easily prepare this at home and at

Druggists in this town and violnity
when shown this prescription, stated
that they can either supply these in-
gredients, or, if our readers prefer, they
will compound the mixture for them.
Dutch Collars To Be Much Worn.
The Dutch Dollars can be worn with
garments wbioh are high at the neck, or
with those having the opening a little
low. Narrow bands Huish the neck edges
of there collars, and they can easily be
attached to the waists with which they
are worn. Lace may also be used at the
edges. Medallions, either of lane or
embroidery, are often used as trimming
on shore collars. Many outlines are
out in large scallops, and they, in
tarn, are embroidered in ,smaller ones,
At the highest point of eaoh large scal-
lop, lines of eyelets or dote are embroid-
ered up to the nook opening decreasing
in size from the outer edge. A large
eyelet or dot is worked at the centre of
eaoh scallop near the edge, These ooI-
lars are usually made of handkerchief
linen, batiste or swiss, although the
heavier linen is often preferred. The
dutch Dollars will be muoh worn during
the Doming season, and these are well
suited to nearly all waists. A plaited
jabot, embroidered or trimmed withlaoe
insertion and edging. can be made from
material corresponding to the collar,
and finished at the bottom in either
square or round outline, These jabots
are easily made, as they are really no-
thing more than small pieces of material
plaited, --The April Delineator.

Temper,',)
A bad temper is as dangerous as a
runaway horse. When a man faint

out for a "smash up." I left in

said a young man whose home had
been blasted; "I resigned in a mo-
ment of wrath," said a young man

tion.r' Prof. Henry Drummond has

not worldliness, not greed of gold, not
drunkenness itself does more to un-'
ohrlstianizo society t':an evil temper.

oommunities, for devastating homes,
for withering up men and women, for
taking away the bloom of obildhood

They should have the freedom of a

Fancy a sensitive mother cow, with
her head fastened in stanchions, forded

The coming season can be

Use plenty of land plaster in and
around the stables. Do not let odors

Never sacrifice a heifer calf from a
first-class butter cow.
All are needed to supply the depleted

Don't, oh, don't, use a sorub ball as

Remember that the cows are tender

from the hard March winds.
Get the oows in good condition before
they go out to pasture. It will oonnt all
the rest of the year.
Never tie a omit with a ropii about the

better. A swivel will keep the chain
