ABOUT HYDRO
The question as to whether Luck -
now will have Hydro Electric service
by next fall naturally is often in the
minds of our citizens. A bit of evid-
ence as to. the prospects carnet: to
hand .this week in the form of a let-
ter from the Commission: When in
.,Toronto last week Reeve Johnston
called at the office of the Commission
to ask what the prospects were for
• having Hydro current next fall, and
urged upon the Commissioners the
special conditions in which Luckriow
is placed at the present time.. .This
week the Council received a letter
A 'from the -Commissiom,,,which -reads
part as follows:
"As Mr. Johnston was informed
when he called at the office, the Com-
mission do not anticipate any diffic-
ulty at the present tinie in connec-
tion with giving service to your mun-
icipality by the late fall of this year."
It is safe to say that anything that
the Council or the Commission, can da
to give service at the earliest date
will be done. -

That carload of booze which Law-
yer Stewart imported into Kincardine
on Jan. 30th. last,, and for which' he,
himself, paid a. $200 fine. in Walker -
tor,, is receiving such attention from
License Inspector White that another
.$400 in" lines has beengathered in
since last js.suefroin parties who par-
ticipated in the moisture, and the
end is not yet. James Kirkpatrick, a
Huron tovship farmer, who got 8
one case -- on hand when the.Inspector
visited his home the other day. The
onus of showing where so much.booze
had disappeared to within so short a
time was put • up to 'the farmer, and
his -trial was set for Wednesday of
this" week. Rather -than ,,,try to dem-
onstrate, however. the agricaltdrist
decided to plead ltv to rge
of trafficing in booze, and settled
with justice fOr $200 -and cots. An-
other party in- Kincardine, who wears
a white. collar on week. days and
sings out loud -in • church on Sunday,
was also tined $200 last week for traf-
ficing in Lawyer Stewart's shipment,
making a total of -$800 gathered so
'far from fines front that carload. If
the Inspector keeps • working his
heavy artillery with similar effect in
that direction much longer, he may
establish a new record for the world
in frenzied finance.
