WHITECHVRCH. To the Editor of the TIMES: Dear Sir,—In the Teems of last week, there is reference to a sermon I preach, ed reoently, Which scarcely gives a oorreet idea of what I said, A reader might readily be pardoned for inferring that I do not object to dancing, even in the ease of ministers, if the amusement is not engaged in immoderately. It is probable your correspondent did not hear the sermon, hence the inaoonraoy. In disonssiug the effect of this amuse- ment upon the influence of those who are devoted to it, I said: "If Rev. Iiir, Duncan and I were known to attend and hold dancing parties, even if our moder- ation (?) should exceed that of others by several hours, and admit of our reaoh. Ing home at 2 a, m., we might as well, so far as our moral and spiritual leader- ship is concerned, remain in our atudies on Sunday." Yours truly, W. A. FINLAY. A concert under the auspices of Miss Sylvia Seel, the popular teaoher of S. S. No. 11, was held in the sohool house on Friday night. March 12th. The night was fine and the house was full. A very lengthy program was supplied, consisting of singing, instrumental music, dialoaute and drilla. A very pleasingpart was a "Good Night" drill by eight little girls, the performance of them being a credit to their trainer, Miss Seel. Another very interesting part was a military parade in regimentals by an impromptu volunteerr oompany compos. ed of ten boys of the neighborhood. The admirable manner in whioh the boys acquitted themselves refleots great credit on Sergeant Serb Campbell, who at the expense of so much time and trouble drilled the boys. Three cheers for Herb.
