$500,000 is Needed
Because the work of the Bake -Naval

Navy League's activities are financed by
public contributions.
The Campaign Must Be' a Success
Because Canada must be assured that
her increasing surplus products will reach
overseas markets.
The Race for Eiport Markets
is on. One quarter of the world's ship-

not buy or rent ships and so is building -
them, and must be in a position to man
them with trained Canadian seamen.

Money, and employing enough people .
to double the population of the;, town
of Goderich. In one Goderich news-
paper, I noticed 'recently a
,further
statement, to the effect that the pro-
moters of the company, not satisfied
with .projecting_\eIY large doings m
the steel plant, might also inaugur-
ate around Goderich another exten-
sive factor for the .nuomfat•turing
nest to found a Mammoth steel cor-

inter7'st to stray towards 'plans of
building an automobile factory -
People of • Goderich have written
in here asking whether this is a
reguar industrial 'plum' that has
dropped into their midst or whether
perchance it may have real estate
as its. motif. This question 'cannot_
be answered. It appears, however,
that- there is .a lot of real estate
mixed up with the .program, and in
answer to those who have. written in
here, I am going to suggest that
they veiw• the whoe -proposition en-
tirly apart from the real estate end
of it and also that the town request
the promoters of the enterprise to
also; place their plans on record,
minus the real estate end of it. In
other words, if the backers of this
enterprise are told that they will be
given a site for a steel plant, but
not. a foot more than\ is requiredt'for•
