REQUEST OF ENGINEER FOR MORE TIME
REFUSED
,
Thisiness done ata spec:al meeting of
the Culross Township Council held. at
Teeswater on May 5th was not large in
amount, but it was important.
The, meeting was called because ota
communicationreceived from the engin-
eer in charge of the survey of the Tees -
water River ai-king that the time for
the preptration of his report be extended,
and the reeve .called the special meeting
to deal with this request.
The engineer being present stated
that owing to the beckward season he
waanot able to -complete hi A rern-t on
the proposed dredging of the river as
early as lie had expected, and within
the time limit set by statute.
Pellowitik a lengthy discussion of the
retinest, C eincillors Marshall and Mac-
Donald moved "That as the time has
expired for the, engineer to hand in.his
report re the Teeswater River dredging,
this Ceuncil do not extend the time for
making his report." Motion carried.
It will be.remembered that this river
dredging scheme has been a live issue in
Culross for many year, The Council
of 1918 had engaged an engineer, had
melt of the ,survr, work !lone, and
made other arrangementsto have the
work carried. out; telt the ritteplyers of
the townshin did not agree with the
Council as to going on wit i the work,
and the result was that (-in election day
there WAR it complete etirnovele-the
reeve and all 'four cotincillors nf 191e
being . deft Ited at theitelte- and A 1,fiett
hoard elected
The refusal. of theiCotincil to extend
the tune for receipt of the engineer's re-
port is, of course, in line with the policy
of the Ct'iturcil elected laet January, and
with the s sntiment of the people.
The only other motion submitted at
lors Beingessner and Marshal$ instruct
-
leg, the reeve tO procnre timber and have
(he railing at the deviation.oe the road
on Con. 5 at 25 sideline,, put in repair.
Motion cat ried.

• &;-UNIQUE _ CALENDAR
• We recently received from the De-
.
partment of Agriculture of Ontario a
somewhat unique calendar. As might
be_expeete-d the calendar,ie specially de-
signed for farmers, and it seems to us to
meet that requirement very wet. It
begins with the month of Match and
continues right ehreugh 1920 to Feb-
ruary 19e1. There are -figures for three
-month! on eacli_ _page, and underneath
each there are -a -number- of-euggestions--
as to"what the farmer or gardener ought
to do during that month, and there is
quite a lot .of other useful information
as well. At the top of each page there
lea picture illnetiattag the-principleat
tivity on the farm for that month.
• We haven't the information from the
-
Department, but are of the opinion that
any plarson----wentieseethe cefendar-may
have it for the salting from the Minister
of_Agriculttire.
