HURON COUNTY COUNCIL
At the session of the Huron County
Council he'd last week a rant of
$22,000 was made to the Salvation
Army overseas work, and $1,001) for'

wages to County officials was also ad-

the house of refuge. The matter cf
the county hospital, which was up for

session. The usual grant were given
to fairs, etc. The opinion was freely
expressed that Warden J. N. Camp-

Reeve of Neustadt
Gets Rough Usage
Neustadt is a sniall village in Grey
County, a few miles from the Carrick
Township boundary line. Neustadt is
largely a German village in the large
German settlement occupying parts of
Bruce and Carey Cnunties. The village,
titre .1 re we a ith,the suggestive name of
Weber, and this reeve has been accused
of - giving utterance to inti British,, mid

Reeve Weber went to ()wen Sound last,
week to attend the Grey County Coun-
cil he wait arrested on the charge of his
disloyal speaking. He was committed
to jail to await trial, bnt friends pill up
the two thousand dollars bail necessary
to secuie his release. A nuimber of re-
turned soldiers, hearing that Weber was
retraining in town, gathered aboiut him,
and it is said that he suffered a good
deal of abuse. He was made to kiss
the tlag and sing patriotic songa. 44e -
was h- led ent of town and told to
"beat. 11" for hors. It Appears !hat; he
set- out about eleven o'clock at night to
walk to his home village. Getting as
far as Shallow lake, he pissed the re-
mainder of the night, in a shed and
caught the morning train for Neustadt.
It is said that as a result of his passion
the night in the cold be is now suffering
from pneumonia.
