Mr. Win. Johnston, St.. Marys, when in town last week, told the Advocate that when he was clerk of Blanshard in 1860 there were 13 taverna licensed in the township. In 1872 there were 11, and to -day there is not one, al- though local option was never sub- mitted to the electors. This is evidence that the drinking custom is going out of use, and that every evil will find its own cue without resorting to legieta tive enactments.—Mitchell Advocate.
