Ube daily population of the Canadian

La Grippe starts with a sneeze—and
ends with a eomplioation of troubles.
It lays the strong man on his back; it
tortures him with fevers and shills,
headaches and backaches. It leaves
him a prey to pneumonia, bronohitis,
oonsumptian and other deadly diseases.
You can avoid La Grippe entirely by
keeping your blood rich and red by the
occasional use of Dr. Williams' Pink
Pitta, If you have not done this, and
the disease lays you low, you oan banish
all its evil after effeote with this eamo
great blood -building, nerve restoring
medicine. Here is proof of the wonder-
ful power of Dr. Williams' Pink Pills
over disease.
Mr. P. E. Paulin, Oolleotor of One -

them. I sent for half a dozen boxes and
began to use them at once. When tak-
ing the second box I began to feel quite
a change in my condition, I was able
to walk about the house and my appetite
was improving. From that on I gained
strength every day, and before the six
boxes were done I was able to return to
the office and attend to my work. Now
I enjoy the beet of health, and although
63 years old, am feeling quite young. I
think Dr. Williams' Pills a splendid
medicine for troubles of this kind."
Dr. Williams' Pink Pills are a blood -
making, nerve -restoring tonin. In this
way they cure anaemia, indigestion,
rheumatism, neuralgia, St. Vitus Dance
and partial paralysis. They are the best
medicine in the world for the ailments
of girlhood and womanhood. Sold by
medicine dealers or by mail at 60 oasts

ml The Toronto Star publishes a chart
arrzhowing the reduction in number of
inthotel licenses in Ontario since 1874. In
'nc3that year there were 6,000 licenses
r alined. From that date the number has
adsteadily declined to 3,700 in 1877, when
f tit rose again to 4,200. In the Scott Act
tl year of 1887 the number of licenses
reached the lowest mark, being slightly

out over 1,800. From this the 'lumber rose

has been a steady decline, until now the
number has been reduced, through the

—Trade brisk and prices steady to firm
at the advances made last week. With
the temperature well below zero, buyers
and sellers were not disposed to haggle
too long over prices, business was trans-
acted in short order, and the compara-
tively heavy run of cattle soon disposed
of.
With the usual few exceptions, the
quality of offerings was not high,
though including some fair loads.
Ohoice heavy export cattle were few,
though there is good demand. Ohoice
butcher cattle are wanted, and com-
mand good prices. Cattle Doming under
the head of light export are brought up
for the local butcher trade.
The cold weather appears to be fa-
vorable for the meat trade, and local
wholesale men are laying in good
stooks.
The run was 70 loads, with 1,600 heed
of cattle, 341 cheep and lambs, and 29
calves.
