Fund Dancing With the Stars
Huron East Firefighter
part of the talent
The Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund is proud to
announce the upcoming Dancing with the Stars 911 event
to be held in London at the Hellenic Center on Nov. 16.
This is the fourth event of its kind since the Dave Moun-
sey Memorial Fund was created in 2009 as a way to hon-
our Dave Mounsey, a Huron OPP officer who died in the
line of duty in 2006 while responding to an emergency
call. Dave and his partner Brenda had been raising funds
to purchase a defibrillator for the Blyth Fire Department
when he died. His legacy continues through the Fund.
Nov 16 will mark the 30th DMMF defibrillator donation
made in the name of a fallen police officer, fire fighter,
paramedic or military member. The defibrillator will be
donated in the name of Master Corporal Kristal Giesebre-
cht who was a member of the 1st Canadian Field Hospital
based at CFB Petawawa. On June 26, 2010 Kristal was
killed while on tour in Afghanistan. Her family and
friends will be present for this evening honouring Kristal
and her sacrifice.
We have a wonderful line-up of eight couples, who will
be dazzling the audience with their new found talents.
They are:
Ken Steeves , a Constable and Media Officer for the
London Police Service along with Sissy Steeves, a Dis-
patcher for the London Police Service will be swinging
their way across the dance floor as couple one.
Mel Getty, a retired OPP Inspector will be dazzling us
along with his daughter, Erin Getty, who is a Dispatcher
with the OPP as couple two. They will be playing it up
with a Broadway hit.
Couple three is Ron Hawkins, an Advanced Care Para-
medic with the Middlesex- London EMS and Captain of
the North Middlesex Fire Department along with Jennifer
Cavanagh who is a Dispatcher with the OPP. They will be
heating up the dance floor with a dramatic salsa.
Our fourth couple is Bob Geilan, a London Firefighter
who will be dancing with Allison Vickerd who is also a

Firefighter in London. They will be modernizing things
when they dance a contemporary dance.
Couple five will be kicking up their cowboy boots with a
country dance. Jason Van der Meer a Huron East Fire-
fighter and Patty Van der Meer, an OPP Auxiliary Consta-
ble will make up that dazzling duo.
Remember 'Saturday Night Fever'? Well, couple six will
be 'discoing' their way to our hearts hopefully with span-
dex and a disco ball. Kevin MacKay is the Deputy Opera-
tions Supervisor with the Middlesex -London EMS and
Carla MacArthur is the Station Manager with the Elgin -St.
Thomas EMS. For all of you with a weak heart, they
should know how to work a defibrillator!
Dusty Sutherland, a Middlesex -London EMS member
and Chrystal Jones a media officer with the OPP will be
our dazzling couple number seven.
Last but not least, couple eight is Josh and Colleen War-
ing. Both Josh and Colleen are Corporals with the 31 Serv-
ice Battalion in London. They will be hipping and hop-
ping across our dance floor and hopefully they'll ditch
their combat boots to do that!
Our night will include performers, dinner, a silent auc-
tion and of course the dance competition. We will end
the evening with an opportunity for the spectators to try
out their own skills on the dance floor. All funds raised
will go the Dave Mounsey Memorial Fund in order to pur-
chase defibrillators that will continue to be donated in the
name of fallen police officers, fire fighters, paramedics or
military members.
