late in Seaforth and area
No one injured in any of
the calls: district chief
Seaforth Firfighters have been kept busy
with an unusually large call volume in the area
of late.
Tom Philips, Seaforth and Area Fire Depart-
ment district chief, said crews responded to a
corn dryer fire on Canada Company Line last
Sunday.
"We were able to get it out with little dam-
age," he said.
Also on the weekend, crews responded to
the north end of Seaforth after a man renovat-
ing his home snapped a gas line while moving
his stove.
Local firefighters were also dispatched to
help out at a farm property in Walton - another
corn dryer fire that required additional
resources.
There were two residential fires in Seaforth,
both on London Road, within the space of a
week. Both of those situations led to smoke
and water damage in the homes. "The main
thing in all of these calls is no one was injured,"
said Phillips last Sunday night. "That is our pri-
ority. You can always rebuild a house"
County seeks feedback on 'rail trail'
Huron County is seeking public input on a
proposed 'rail trail!
Landowners abutting the former CP rail line
and other interested parties are invited to an
information session in Blyth on Thurs. Nov.
21.
The former rail line runs through the munic-
ipalities of Huron East, Morris-Turnberry,
North Huron, Central Huron, ACW and ends
near the Menesetung Bridge in Goderich.
"There are many matters that need to be
considered before the County of Huron would
enter into formal arrangements to lease the
corridor and allow a recreational trail. Com-
ments received at the meeting or through writ-
ten submissions, will be provided to County
council," said Scott Tousaw, director of plan-
ning and development for the county.
The public is invited to share comments at
the Blyth Community Centre at 7:30 p.m.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. so that there is an
opportunity to review printed information
ahead of time. For more information contact
the planning office at 524-8394 ext. 3.
Erratic driver arrested for impaired driving
HURON EAST - A 20 -year-old Central
Huron man was arrested and charged with

fic stop.
OPP observed the driver of a grey
Volkswagon Jetta driving erratically on Huron
Road. He braked heavily and aggressively
turned onto Hensall Road while Northbound
on Oct. 27, police said.
After a traffic stop, police spoke with the

by alcohol. There was also an open bottle of
alcohol behind the driver's seat. Both breath
samples at the OPP detachment were over
the legal limit.
The accused has a court date in Ontario
Court of Justice in Goderich scheduled for
Nov. 25. He received an automatic 90 -day
driver's license suspension and his vehicle
has been impounded for seven days.
