Crash with deer
claims life of
Tiverton woman
ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH
- Shortly after 7 p.m. on Sept 15,
Huron County OPP officers and
Huron County EMS responded
to a fatal collision in Port Albert
located on Bluewater Veteran's
Highway at Victoria Street
The investigation has revealed
an SUV was southbound on Blue -
water Veteran's Highway when
it collided with a deer that had
entered onto the roadway.
The impact of the collision sent the
deer airborne into the path of a north-
bound vehicle.The deer entered the
interior compartment where ft struck
and killed a front seat passenger.
The 67 -year-old female pas-
senger from Tiverton was pro-
nounced dead at the scene,
while the driver was transported
to hospital with minor injuries.
The two occupants in the
SUV were uninjured.
Fatal two -vehicle
collision on
Huron Road
CENTRAL HURON - Police
are currently investigat-
ing a two vehicle crash that
claimed a life on Huron Road.
In the early morning hours
of Sept. 16, officers from the
Huron County OPP detach-
ment, along with Goderich
Fire Department and Huron
County EMS, responded to a
crash scene located on Huron
Road (Hwy 8) at Falls Road.
Police investigation has revealed
the driver a pickup truck was
traveling westbound on Huron
Road when for unknown rea-
sons the vehicle crossed the
center line and collided head on
with an eastbound tractor trailer.
The driver and lone occupant
of the pickup was pronounced
dead at the scene, while the
30 -year-old driver of the trac-
tor trailer was treated at the
scene for a minor injury.

ing this collision should immedi-

Impaired driver
stopped in Exeter
SOUTH HURON - A 39 -year-old
man is facing several charges
including impaired driving fol-
lowing a traffic stop early in
the morning of Sept. 19.
Huron County OPP received report
of a possible impaired driver last
seen travelling northbound on

Officers immediately started
to search for the suspect vehi-
cle. Approximately twenty min-
utes later, the truck was stopped
at the south end of Exeter.
After speaking with the driver,
police found he was display-
ing signs of impairment.
The driver was then placed
under arrest and transported
to the Exeter OPP Detachment
for breath tests where he reg-
istered above the legal limit.
The driver has been charged
and will appear at the Ontario
Court of Justice in Exeter on Oct.
30. He received an automatic
90 -day driver's licence suspen-
sion and his motor vehicle was
impounded for seven days.
Man charged
with theft of
parking lot sign
SOUTH HURON — Huron County
OPP officers have arrested and
charged a 38 -year-old man with
theft after he was caught in pos-
session of a parking lot sign.
According to police, a man
was observed travelling south-
bound on Main Street in Exe-
ter on a tricycle in the early
morning hours of Sept. 16,
while carrying a large metal
parking sign under his arm.
Officers were able to con-
firm it had been stolen
from a local business.
The man was arrested for
theft and a subsequent check
revealed he was currently serv-
ing two probation sentences
with conditions to keep the
peace and be of good behaviour.
As a result, the suspect has been
charged with theft under $5,000
and two counts of fail to com-
ply with probation order and will
appear at the Ontario Court of
Justice in Exeter on Oct. 30.
