OPP investigating
two break-ins
in Huron East
HURON EAST - Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP) officers are investigat-
ing two -break, enter and thefts
that occurred over the course
of two weeks at a seasonal cot-
tage located on Moncrieff Road.
Those responsible attended the
property sometime around Aug.
21 and they managed to steal
approximately $200 in food and
alcohol from the trailer parked
on the property. Then a couple
weeks later they returned to the
property and pried their way into
two outbuildings. Once inside
the shed and shop they pro-
ceeded to steal approximately
$2,500 in tools, food and alcohol.
An orange and grey Husq-
varna chainsaw, a Dewalt
skill saw and a Mini -bike are
some of the stolen items.
Chainsaws stolen
ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH
- Huron County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) officers are inves-
tigating the overnight theft of
two chainsaws stolen from the
back of an insecure pickup truck
that was parked on Nile Road.
The chainsaws were stolen some-
time overnight on Sept. 7, 2014.
The chainsaws are both orange
and white Stihl brand, two-
stroke gas powered engines.
One is a model MS441 val-
ued at $1200 and the other is a
model 0-34 valued at $1,000.
Suspects make off
with utility trailer
BLUEWATER - Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
is investigating the recent theft
of a utility trailer stolen from
a private driveway located on
Bayfield Terrace in Bayfield.
The owner reported his black,
1972 model utility trailer was sto-
len sometime between 10:00
a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 8.
The trailer is approximately
four feet by six feet in size.
Female driver
facing charges
under suspension
BLUEWATER - A 42 -year-old North
Huron female driver is facing a
charge of Drive While Under Sus-
pension following a traffic stop
on Sept. 5. According to police,
Shortly after 8:00 a.m. a Huron
County Ontario Provincial Police
(OPP) officer was alerted to a pos-
sible suspended driver as he was
monitoring the traffic flow on Lon-
don Road near Hurondale Road.
The cruiser, equipped with an Auto-
matic Licence Plate Recognition
(ALPR) computer device sounded
an alert after the licence plate of
a southbound Chevrolet was cap-
tured by the onboard ALPR cam-
era. The ALPR system identified
the attached licence plate as being
registered to a suspended driver.
A traffic stop was initiated and
it was confirmed the driver held
a suspended driver's licence.
As a result, the accused
was charged with drive
while under suspension.
She is scheduled to appear in
Goderich court on Oct. 7.
Two males
suspected in early
morning break-in
BLUEWATER - Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
officers are investigating an
early morning break and enter
that took place on Sept. 3.
At approximately 3:30 a.m.
two male suspects attended the
Michael's Pharmasave located on
Bayfield Main Street and forced
entry into the building. Entry was
gained into the store by causing
extensive damage to the front doors.
The two male suspects fled
the scene prior to police
arrival. It is unknown at this
time what has been taken.
The suspects are described as:
- A male with a tall, slim
build. He was wearing a base-
ball cap, a black sweater with
long sleeves, knee length shorts,
with white and grey shoes.
- The second male is described
as being tall, with a slim build. He
was wearing dark coloured pants
with a red stripe on the side and a
dark coloured long sleeve
shirt. He was also wear-
ing a baseball cap.
Windsor driver
faces charges
in Goderich
GODERICH - A 67 -year-
old male Windsor driver
is facing charges of Drive
Motor Vehicle with Over
80 Milligrams of Alco-
hol and Red Light - Fail
to Stop following a traf-
fic stop last night.
Just before 8:00 p.m. a
Huron County Ontario Pro-
vincial Police (OPP) officer
spotted the driver of a
Chevrolet Impala fail to stop
for a red light at the inter-
section of Bayfield Road
and Suncoast Drive. The
southbound Impala was
stopped a short distance
away on Bayfield Road.
Upon speaking with the
driver the officer noted
the driver had been drink-
ing alcohol. A roadside
test was administered and
the driver registered a
fail. He was arrested and
transported to the Huron
OPP Detachment where
he provided two samples
of his breath to a quali-
fied Intoxilizer Techni-
cian. Both samples regis-
tered over the legal limit.
As a result, the accused
has been charged with drive
motor vehicle with over 80
milligrams of alcohol and
red light - fail to stop. He
has a court appearance
scheduled for the Ontario
Court of Justice — Goder-
ich on Oct. 20. He received
an automatic 90 -day driv-
er's licence suspension.
