dinner set for Sept. 25
Alison Lobb
Special to the Expositor
The fall FIWIN dinner has been
scheduled for Thurs., Sept. 25.
Hosted by the Huron Small
Business Enterprise Centre,
once again it will be held at the
White Carnation Banquet hall in
Holmesville, with social time at
6 pm and dinner at 6:30.
The objective of the evening is
networking (obviously!). During
dinner, those donating door
prizes, and those winning them,
each have an opportunity to give a
one -minute advertisement of
their business/career ...that eleva-
tor speech! At the end of the even-
ing, the grand prize will be won by
a contest challenging your mem-
ory of those businesses. Come
and see how it works. You might
be the lucky winner!
This is going to be an exciting
and informative evening, with
Lisa Houthuyzen sharing tips
and tricks on how to feel com-
fortable speaking to groups of
people large or small. Lisa has
been active in Toastmasters for
several years and commented
that "We all present ourselves.
The minute we leave our homes
we are "On" so to speak." She
feels that, as women, we face
additional challenges when
"presenting" ourselves and what
we have to say. She will address
do's and don'ts of public speak-
ing, as well as how to combat the
challenges that women face.
Lastly she will discuss how to
enjoy getting up to speak to peo-
ple in public.
At $30 per person, which
includes HST, this is a network-
ing opportunity you can't afford
to miss. -Bring along your busi-
ness cards and brochures and
don't forget we appreciate
donated door prizes. Make this
an opportunity to promote your
business to other like-minded
women. If you aren't currently
in business, this is an opportu-
nity to find out who is and what
they do. With 50 to 60 women
all interested in business, this is
always an entertaining evening.
Feel free to pass the word and
bring a friend BUT please make
sure that they are registered!
Pre -registration is required so
we can confirm dinner num-
bers. If you register and end up
unable to attend, please let us
know well in advance. We pay
for the number of meals we
book at the beginning of the
week. To register, or for more
information, call Alison Lobb,
Business Consultant, or Cathy at
the Huron Business Enterprise
Centre, 527-0305.
