POLICE BRIEFS
London man facing several
charges after traffic stop
CENTRAL HURON — In the early morning hours
of Oct. 5, Huron County OPP officers spot-
ted a vehicle travelling southbound on Victo-
ria Street without their headlights on.
Police then pulled over the car and spoke with the
occupants when they determined the male pas-
senger in the vehicle had provided a false name
in an effort to mislead the investigating officer.
After confirming the passenger's actual name, it was
found he was not complying with the conditions of
his court release and probation sentence by hav-
ing contact with the female driver of the vehicle.
As a result, the 36 -year-old London man is fac-
ing several charges including failure to comply with
a probation order and obstructing a peace officer.
He remains in custody with an upcoming court appear-
ance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
Driver charged after
hitting hydro pole
MORRIS-TURNBERRY — A 23 -year-old Huron

his vehicle into a hydro pole on Browntown
Road and failed to remain at the scene.
On Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 7:23 p.m. Huron County
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were noti-
fied of the collision through Hydro One staff. An inves-
tigation determined a driver of a westbound SUV left
the roadway and struck a hydro pole in the north
ditch. The impact of the collision snapped the hydro
pole, shorted out the hydro wires and knocked power
out to several residences along Browntown Road.

and vehicle from the collision and have since laid
charges. The driver is facing charges of careless
driving and fail to remain as well as report an acci-
dent. He will have to attend Provincial Offences
Court at a later date to answer to the charges.
