Local plowmen take top spots at the 2014 IPM Several plowmen, coaches and relatives, along with a zone director, plow judge and IPM 2017 committee members have returned home from the 2014 Interna- tional Plowing Match in Sim- coe County. Huron County plowmen competing in various classes included Jacob Gulutzen, Evan Krebs, Troy Leeming, Lucas Townsend, Shawn Ryan, Jeff McGavin, Brian MacDonald, Paul Dodds, Brian McGavin, Kevin Haney and Steve Haney. Competing in the junior classes Saturday, joining the Huron Junior Plowmen, was 4-H member Chris Baker. Lucas Townsend, along with Brian and Jeff McGavin, won Reserve Champion- ships in their respective classes. Brian earned the right to compete at the Canadian Plowing Competi- tion to be held on Wolf Island in 2015. Lucas Townsend was awarded the Davenport trophy - a gold pocketwatch. Competing in the Queen of the Furrow program was Huron County's Jack Kerighan. Jackie has repre- sented Huron County and the Plowmen's Association over the past year.
