Alvin McLellan
Alvin McLellan, and his wife
Pam, have been married for 34
years and have lived in the Grey
ward for all of those years.
The couple has raised three
children, who all of a sudden
are grown adults with kids of
their own. Sarah, their oldest,
and her partner Darren have a
3 -month old daughter.
Missy and her husband Paul
live in Wellesley with their two
boys aged three and one.
AJ and his wife Jill live on a
small farm, outside of Donegal,
and have a son who is also
three.
McLellan became involved
in politics, when Huron County
was looking for a mega dump-
site and there had been four
sites identified in Grey Town-
ship. He was elected in 1991
and served two terms as a
councillor for Grey. In 1997, he
was elected as Deputy Reeve for
Orval Bauer
In the past, Orval Bauer
served for four years on Huron
East council, representing Grey
Ward from 2007-2010.
He has also served a six-
year term on his church
board, and is currently on
MVF as vice chairman.
Bauer says his aim is to sup-
port local agriculture, prevent
Grey, where he served one
term. In 2001, McLellan was
elected as a councillor for the
Grey Ward, after amalgama-
tion, and stills holds the seat to
this day.
During his time on council,
McLellan says he has had the
pleasure of serving the commu-
nity on many boards including
Moncrieff Hall Board, Cran-
brook Hall Board, Ethel Hall
Board. Brussels, Morris and
Grey Board of Recreation, Mait-
land Valley Conservation
Authority and the Huron East
Personnel Committee He was
also lucky enough to be
involved with the Brussels Opti-
mist Club, when they started
their famous "Optimist Harvest
Stag':
According to McLellan, the
next four years are going to be
challenging in order keep the
budget balanced, if residents
expect to keep the same level of
service. The province cut
$330,000 from municipal fund-
ing and Huron East has told to
expect that same level of cuts
nextyear.
McLellan says he doesn't
believe in just cutting a service
without examining what effect
it will have on the ratepayers
and thinks he can bring experi-
ence to the Huron East council
table, as council deals with
these issues.
damage to farm land and
encourage road improvement
for large farm equipment.
He also believes there
should be more parks for
children to play in for enter-
tainment and education.
Bauer says his goal is to be
available anytime thing
come up, and when tax -pay-
ers have a question he will
try to get the answers they
need to help them.

school guidance counsellor.
His role in guidance ranges
from discussing post -sec-
ondary options with stu-
dents and timetabling to
counseling for mental
health, as well as substance
use and abuse. Mueller says
he enjoys his diverse role at
the school as it has made
him a more effective prob-
lem solver.
Mueller's interest in
municipal politics began
three years ago when he
learned that a power line
from a nearby wind farm
was proposed to go directly
in front of his family's
home. Since that time, he
has attended numerous
council meetings, as well as
multi -municipal working
group meetings. Mueller
has also presented three
deputations to council on
behalf of his neighbours
and written more than 300
letters and emails to all lev-
els of government.
Mueller currently serves
on two community-based
committees, and through his
16 years of teaching, he has
taken part in several charity
fundraisers and coached
several school and commu-
nity-based sports teams. He
feels these roles have served
him well and will help him
provide responsible leader-
ship for Grey Township on
Huron East Council.
