Flowers says he firmly believes that in order to become a councillor for the municipality, it takes com- mitment, the ability to listen, learn and adapt, and above all, the desire to strive to make a community better and stronger. According to Flowers, not every decision is an easy one or even sometimes logical. Each and every situation or issue that arises within his Brenda Dalton Brenda Dalton has lived in Huron East all her life, growing up in Tucker - smith and living in McKil- lop since she married her husband, Ken. The couple currently lives and farms with their family on Can- ada Company Road near Kevin Wilbee Over the years, while working on the family farm outside of Walton as well as pursing a law degree, Kevin Wilbee says he has learned ward, or the municipality as a whole, is important to someone. The ability to lis- ten, translate and or explain an issue or resolution is par- amount to being a good councillor. Each decision is based on fact, law or prece- dent and cannot be based on emotion. During his tenure as a councillor, the ability to actively participate in vol- unteer organizations has been limited. He is still however an active member of the Dublin Lions Club, Walton. Dalton is also a registered nurse, and after taking a few years off to raise her family, has worked for the past 25 years at Seaforth Manor Nursing and Retirement Home. Dalton has previously sat on the Seaforth and District Community Cen- tre arena board and is cur- rently involved as a mem- ber of the Cavan United Church in Winthrop. Her history of being raised on a farm and con- tinuing to live and work on a farm has always kept her interested in what is happening in the rural community. One particu- lar agriculture event she looks forward to each year is the IPM, which will be held at Walton in 2017. A few issues that have interested Dalton in run- ning at this time include maintenance of roads and that in order to achieve meaningful results and solu- tions, it's important to work hard, listen, engage in dia- logue, and collaborate with others. By running for Huron East Council, he hopes to seek meaningful change and results in the community. Wilbee's first job was working at JR's Gas Bar in Brussels and since then he has held numerous positions such as parliamentary and outreach assistant on Parlia- ment Hill as well as office manager at the Ontario Min- istry of Agriculture, and is now currently working at the law firm Monteith Ritsma Phillips LLP, in Stratford, serving the rural community of Huron -Perth. Being involved in ongoing services such as recrea- tion and the recreation centres themselves and what they contribute to the municipality. Another big interest is the future of rural Ontario in regard to the government initiated programs and decreased funding to the local areas. Dalton says her goal, if elected at this time in municipality of Huron East in McKillop ward, is to be a voice from the rural area. She wants to minimize tax increases and help with decisions that encourage responsi- ble spending of tax dollars. For Dalton, her hope is that Huron East will con- tinue to be a great place to live, work and raise a fam- ily in the future. a passionate advocate of var- ious community, farming and legal issues such as the need for greater economic development in rural com- munities, as well as the development of a more fair tax base. Through his various pursuits, he has developed a unique blend of agricultural and legal knowledge, which he is excited to put to use serving the interests of farm- ers and other members of the rural community. As a councillor, Wilbee says he will be accessible, open and transparent. Throughout his term, he will listen and engage in dia- logue with the residents of Huron East so as to ensure good decision-making and meaningful results.
