Huron FC looking for
players for U12 team
Huron FC indoor soccer
(futsal) is forming a second
team.
The club is looking for
players for a new U12 team.
Huron FC was established
in the fall of 2014 with com-
petitive winter soccer players
who used to drive to London
or Kitchener -Waterloo but
can now train in Huron
County.
Players of the 1114 are from
Blyth, Goderich, Brussels
and Seaforth.
Huron FC is affiliated with
the London Canadian Futsal
Club and plays all their
games in London on most
Saturdays.
The new U12 team is look-
ing for players born in 2003
or 2004.
"This is a great opportu-
nity for the youth of the
county who want to continue
playing soccer competitively
in the winter," said team
manager Annie Sparling
The coach of the team is
Clinton resident Poncho
Melo, a former professional
soccer player from Mexico.
He has an extensive back-
ground in training and
coaching.
"Poncho Melo's extensive
experience in coaching and
training makes this opportu-
nity for the boys even more
exceptional," Sparling said.
Futsal is a somewhat simi-
lar game to soccer but is
played indoors, with smaller
nets and slightly different
rules.
Officials said it is a "fast -
paced sport emphasizing
ball control, passing and foot
work."
