Libro Credit Union awards nearly $700,000 to support local youth programs
Libro Credit Union announced
the recipients of the 2014 Commu-
nity Builder Grant Program Nov. 12.
Libro is investing almost $700,000
to support programs and projects
across southwestern Ontario that
are helping to create bright futures
for the region's youth.

Over 80 charge laid
SOUTH HURON —A 19 -year-old
man is currently facing an Over
80 charge following a traffic stop
this past weekend in Exeter.
According to police, an officer
stopped the driver, who was trave-
ling on Andrew Street at approxi-
mately 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 15.
After speaking with the driver,
police noted the male had
been drinking alcohol. A road-
side -screening test was com-
pleted and the driver registered
a fail. He was then arrested
and subsequently transported
to the Exeter OPP detachment
for breath tests. After provid-
ing two samples of his breath
to a qualified IntoxilizerTechni-
cian, it was found both samples
registered over the legal limit.
As a result, the driver from South
Huron is facing charges involv-
ing driving under the influ-
ence and will appear in an Exe-
ter courtroom on Dec. 18.
In addition, the driver also received
an automatic 90 -day driver's
licence suspension and his vehicle
was impounded for seven days.
Three day
suspension issued
GODERICH - A 59 -year-
old driver has had his driv-
er's licence suspended follow-
ing a traffic stop on Nov. 15.
According to police, an officer
stopped a pickup truck on
Kingston Street in the Town
of Goderich just after 7 pm.
After speaking with the male
driver, the officer noted the
man had consumed alco-
hol. A roadside test was com-
pleted and the driver regis-
tered a warn range reading.
As a result, the driver from Goder-
ich was served with a three day
driver's licence suspension.

Libro awarded 39 Community
Builder grants this year, for a total
amount of $691,675. Grants are
awarded to community develop-
ment programs where youth up to
age 25 play a pivotal role.
"It's very important decisions are
made locally and reflect the priori-
ties of each community we serve,"
Bolton said. "At Libro, we have a
very unique governance structure
where each of our 27 branches has
a council made up of Owner Repre-
sentatives who ensure the priorities
of their communities are met.
Along with staff, closely involved in
the grant evaluation process and
have a voice in the award section."
The Community Builder Grant
Program offers two funding levels.
Larger grants range between $20,000
and $150,000 per year and are
reviewed by the Community Invest-
ment Advisory Panel made up of
owner representatives, members of
Libro's Board of Directors and staff.
Branch grants range between
$5,000 and $10,000 per year and are
reviewed by Libro's 27 individual
Branch Councils.
