In an effort to collect donations for those in need,
St. James Catholic School did their part to Stuff the
Bus onMay7.
An event that occurs annually during Catholic
Education Week, schools across the Huron Perth
Catholic District School Board participate by making
donations, which are picked up and "stuffed" in a
school bus while makng its way across the county,
ending up at St. Vincent de Paul food banks in Strat-
ford and Goderich.
Local bus companies donate their buses and driv-
ers to visit all of the schools and at each stop students
participated in a small assembly, prayer liturgy or
pep rally to cheer on the team of teacher and student
volunteers taking part in the drive.
In total, four bus loads of food are collected each
year. For St. James' principal Karen Tigani, it was
important to not only collect items for St. Vincent's,
but for the local food bank here in Seaforth.
"We know the shelves at the county food banks are
often low this time of year so we want to help out,"
she said. "Most of our donatons will be sent to the
Seaforth food bank so the food is used in our com-
munity, as well as throughout the county, to help
others."
