The Children's Services of Huron and Perth have collaborated with Fanshawe College, Contact North, local school boards, and The Centres for Employ- ment and Learning of Avon Maitland District School Board for this event, since both counties are in current need of additional educators. The ECE Career Fair will provide participants an opportunity to meet with multiple potential employers, explore various methods of completing an ECE diploma (i.e. full time, part time, online, fast track or apprenticeship courses), get business advice regarding the setup of a licensed home childcare business and get information about pro- fessional membership and regulations. There are many opportunities cur- rently available for registered early childhood educators throughout Huron and Perth counties; in licensed child- care centres, in full day kindergarten classrooms as a partner of a teaching team, in Ontario Early Years Centres, in before and after school programs and in Best Start Child and Family Centres. These educators are responsible for providing responsive, reflective, and nurturing programs that promote all areas of children's development includ- ing creativity, social engagement, liter- acy and problem solving skills. They are required to belong to the col- lege of Early Childhood Educators, which regulates the profession, ensur- ing that professional standards of prac- Bluewater Wind Energy Centre NExTera ENERGY e, MICA Community Liaison Committee (CLC): Meeting No. 2 May 21st, 2014 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Stanley Community Centre, 38594 Mill Road, Varna Ontario In April 2013, Varna Wind, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of NextEra Energy Canada, ULC (NextEra), obtained approval from the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) to build a Wind Energy Centre in the Municipality of Bluewater, Huron County Ontario. We are hosting the 2nd Community Liaison Committee Meeting Good planning involves the community so we have established a CLC to discuss key aspects of construction, installation, operation, maintenance and retirement of the Bluewater Wind Energy Centre. This Committee is a requirement of our Renewable Energy Approval, and serves as a forum to discuss concerns, share information, exchange ideas related to construction and operations, and to provide project updates. The CLC is not intended to re -visit matters already addressed through the MOE approval process. About the Bluewater Wind Energy Centre The Bluewater Wind Energy Centre, which includes a transmission line that extends into the Municipality of Huron East, will have a maximum generating capacity of up to 60 megawatts, using 37 wind turbines; this is enough clean energy to power over 15,000 homes. The wind farm is expected to create about 150 construction jobs, 5 to 6 full-time local operations jobs, and is estimated — over its 20 year lifespan — to contribute almost $9 million to local governments in property taxes and $13 million in lease payments to landowners. About the Community Liaison Committee Membership is drawn from a cross-section of the community so as to provide a broad and balanced perspective. Representatives of the following groups are invited to make up the Committee: persons residing or owning lands within 1 km of the Facility, other area residents and landowners, members of the agricultural and business community, government agencies, local organizations, special interest groups, and Aboriginal, First Nation and Metis communities. A total of four (4) CLC meetings will be facilitated by AECOM over the next two years. All meeting materials (e.g., agendas, minutes, and presentations) will be made available for public review at www.NextEraEnergyCanada.com. All meetings are open so that the public can attend and observe the conversation — as well, requests for delegations are welcomed. To be considered for a public deposition, please submit a request and the actual written deposition to Avril Fisken (AECOM) by May 14th, 2014. Early childhood education training is also offered to individuals who provide Home Child Care, ensuring that children receive quality supervision and stimulation within an intimate comfort- able home setting. Retaining qualified early childhood educators and licensed home child care providers is important to the current and future economy of Huron and Perth Counties. Quality early childhood education programs provide reliable, secure care for chil- dren, allowing parents to be in the workforce, with mini- mal absenteeism, and maxi- mum productivity. But the World Bank in 2010 con- cluded that an investment in early development can reap tangible economic benefits because children who attend early learning programs are more likely to achieve aca- demic levels beyond high school, and participate less in criminal activity or other negative behaviours in adulthood. According to the Ontario Early Years Policy Frame- work, early childhood sets the foundation for lifelong learning, behaviour, health, and well being. What children experience in their first five years has a significant impact on their brain architecture, their later capacity to learn, and the quality of their relationships throughout life. U.S. econo- mist and Nobel Prize winner James Heckman calculates that $1 invested in early childhood is equivalent to $3 spent on school -aged chil- dren and $8 on young adults. Therefore, the ECE Career Fair is an important step in supporting the children, fam- ilies and economy of Huron and Perth Counties. Every- one interested in pursuing a high energy -fulfilling career with children is encouraged to come out to the ECE Career Fair. Qualified educa- tors are suggested to bring their resume. Attendees will find this an excellent venue to begin planning their per- sonal route towards an ECE education and/or career.
