The service at Cavan for the first Sunday in March was taken by Rev. Nick Vander- mey. For the children's story he showed sets of three items, one of which was different. He then got the children to show him which one didn't belong. The choir sang "When All Else Is Gone." For his message, Rev. Nick stated the United Church is changing - not new beliefs, but new ideas. A social time fol- lowed the service. Coffee time will be held for the rest of March at Cavan on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome. Neil Dolmage, who had a bad fall earlier this year, is progressing nicely. He is still in a wheelchair but hopes to be able to weight bear soon. Looking back over the years: In 1947 my brother was born on March 20. Dad met the doctor because of stormy weather and the Doctor had a mile and a half to travel. Eve- rything turned out fine. The next year several bridges in the area were moved or damaged because of ice flooding. We never missed any school - no snow days - as the teacher lived near the school (the one room type).
