Beloved wife of the late John 'Jack' Eisler (May 12, 2011). Loving mother of Cindy (Ken) Flanagan of RR#1 Dublin and Gary (Cathy) Eisler of Grand Bend. Cherished grandma of Jeff (Rachel) Flanagan, Tara (Dean) Finnigan, Jon (Aze) Eisler, Michelle Flanagan, JaneIle Eisler (Erik); and great -grandma of Cy Flanagan, Mackenzie Finnigan, Abby Griffin and Ava Eisler. Dear sister of Glen (Gladys) Chessell, Barb (Andy) MacLean; and sister-in-law of Doris (Grant) Ellison, Norma Eisler and Bea Eisler. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Maggie and Roy Chessell; and siblings Ken, George and Bub Chessell and Doris Magenty. Visitation was held at McGLYNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Monday, February 24th from 6-9 p.m. and continued on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 1 - 1:45 p.m. which was followed by Doreen's funeral service at 2 p.m. Pastor Stephen Hildebrand officiated and the Pallbearers were Jeff Flanagan, Tara Finnigan, Jon Eisler, Michelle Flanagan, JaneIle Eisler and Dean Finnigan. A reception followed at the Seaforth Legion, Branch 156 and spring interment will take place at Egmondville Cemetery. Lois Ferne Hodgert (nee Harrison) of Stratford, formerly of Seaforth, in her 88th year. Loving mother of Bryan Hodgert and his wife Linda of Heidelberg. Cherished grandma of Trevor MacLean and Tawnya Murray and her husband Mike, all of London. Also survived by her sisters-in-law Betty Harrison of Calgary and Marilyn Hodgert of Exeter, as well as nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband William Hodgert (1988); daughter Brenda MacLean; grandson Daryl Hodgert; and her brothers Ken Harrison (Ruth) and Keith Harrison. Visitation will be held at MCGLYNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 519-527-1390, on Thursday, March 6th from 6-9 p.m. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Friday, March 7, 2014 from 12 noon until the time of Lois' funeral to celebrate her life at 1 p.m. Rev. Linda Moffatt will officiate and a reception will follow at First Presbyterian Church, Seaforth. Interment will take place at Exeter Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Huron County would be appreciated and can be made through the funeral home or by visiting Lois' memorial at www.mcglynnfamilyfuneralhome.com Obituaries Obituaries GODKIN, Lavern Morley - Died peacefully in Seaforth Community Hospital on February 22, 2014 surrounded by family at the age of 80. Lavern was born on February 10, 1934 at Scott Memorial Hospital in Seaforth, Ontario, on a cold winter's day with temperatures reaching minus 40 degrees. He grew up on a farm in McKillop Township. In 1959, he married his sweetheart, Marion (Hemingway) and they moved into a red brick century -old house on a farm near Walton where they raised seven children. Lavern is the cherished father of Dianne Godkin of Toronto, Bruce Godkin and his wife Katrin of Walton, Ron Godkin and his wife Lynne of Kirkton, Gary Godkin and his wife Geri -Lee of Ottawa, Donna Blair and her husband Cameron of Ilderton, Nancy Schmeltzer and her husband Rick of Winter Garden, Florida, and Sharon Paterson and her husband Mike of Toronto. He is the adored grandfather of Scott, Brent, Laura and Heather Godkin; Mitchell and Lucas Godkin; Kara, Kelly, and Kristi Godkin; Reagan and Cailin Blair; Jacob and Brooke Schmeltzer; and Cole, Tyler, and Alyssa Paterson. Lavern is also survived by his sisters Olene Dennis (Murray), Audrey Beuermann (Lloyd), Merle Burns, and Lois Sinclair (Glen); many sisters and brothers- in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edmund and Olive (Medd) Godkin, his brother Mervin, his step -mother Ida (McClinchey/Gingerich) Godkin, two brothers-in-law and one sister- in-law. In addition to farming for over 50 years, Lavern was a Director with McKillop Mutual Insurance Company for many years. Throughout his life, he was active in the church and community through 4-H, Junior Farmers, playing and coaching sports. In his retirement years he enjoyed bowling, travelling and watching his grandchildren in their numerous sports and music activities. He loved to entertain family and friends with his repertoire of card and magic tricks. Visitation was held at McGLYNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Wednesday, February 26th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Lavern's life was held in the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2 p.m. Originally scheduled for Thursday, the service had to be postponed to Friday due to inclement weather and road closures. Pastor Stephen Hildebrand officiated. The Pallbearers were Lavern's sons and sons- in-law, Bruce, Ron, Gary, Cameron, Rick, Mike; and the Flower Bearers were grandchildren, Scott, Brent, Laura, Heather, Mitchell, Lucas and Kara. A reception followed at the Seaforth Agriplex and spring interment will take place at Maitland Bank Cemetery, Seaforth. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Seaforth Community Hospital or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation would be appreciated and can still be made through the funeral home or by visiting Lavern's memorial at www.mcglynnfamilyfuneralhome.com
