It is tied to SpeakUp projects, a Min-
istry of Education program that aims at
giving students "a chance to get
involved with making their school a
better place to learn."
Vercruyssen said it has become such
a popular event they have opened it up
to elementary students from feeder
schools, local community members
and staff.
The silent auction raises funds for the
class with a group of students deciding
the proper use of the proceeds.
This year's event had featured over 50
submissions.
"The quality is amazing," Vercruyssen
said.
The information communication
technology course includes other art
forms such as film, animation and
design.
A high skills specialist major course,
Vercruyssen said it has had "enormous"
impact on the students.
"They directly see the benefits," she
said.
In addition to organizing the event,
the students also take care of all of the
other responsibilities including creat-
ing flyers, photo books, prints of the
photos and even framing
