investigate fatal
hit and run with a new twist
July 26th marked the five year anni-
versary since the death of Jason Pear-
son, a 31 -year-old man from Waterloo
who was struck and killed in a fatal fail
to remain collision in Grand Bend.
Police believe Pearson was walking
in the early morning hours when he
was struck by a vehicle just north of
the Grand Bend Motorplex on Grand
Bend Line, County Road #81. The
vehicle driver left the scene and victim
behind.
A second motorist came upon the
collision and called for help.
Pearson was immediately trans-
ported to hospital where he later died
as a result of the injuries he sustained
in the collision.
The Huron County OPP Crime Unit
would like to remind everyone of this
ongoing investigation and that police
are still seeking assistance from the
public.
"Jason Pearson was a young man
with family and friends who loved him
dearly," said Huron County OPP
Detective Constable Heather Macrae.
"The driver that hit him needs to come
forward, take responsibility and do
the right thing. We will continue to
investigate until we can bring this
investigation to a resolution and pro-
vide some level of closure for Jason's
loved ones."

A new store has popped
up on Seaforth's Main Street,
ready to cater to those in
need of a little savings, or
maybe even a frosty treat.
"We sell second hand
clothing, furniture, books,
pretty much everything," says
Bonnie Isaac, who, along
with partner Wayne Boyle,
opened Bonnie's Restore and
Dairy Bar on July 1.
The pair got the idea to
start their own business after
noticing several empty
spaces available on Sea-
forth's Main Street.
"I worked at a secondhand
store before and loved it,"
explained Bonnie. "A lot of
people can't afford every-
thing brand new, so it's nice
to have stuff that's used, but
in good shape."
Already offering every-
thing from clothing to furni-
ture and decor, the pair felt
they needed an extra incen-
tive to get folks in the door.
"The dairy part came
through a partner who
decided he would like to
have ice cream on the side,"
said Bonnie. "Being down-
town, we thought it might
attract more people."

business in Seaforth has been a positive
experience, thanks to a warm welcome
from residents. "The people are awfully
nice here, everybody's so friendly and
says hi to you on the street;' he said. "The
people that we've met so far love the store
because it's clean and they can look at
everything very easily. It's not cluttered
and they're enjoying the ice cream."
The store is run by donations, some-
thing the pair is always looking for.
"We don't have a drop off box, so
we ask people call or come into the
store," said Bonnie, adding a goal of
hers is to be able to eventually donate
to local organizations like the food
bank. "We're hoping to give back to
the community once we get our feet
on the ground."
