Seaforth Manor celebrated not only
their annual family BBQ, but the reno-
vation and opening of their third floor,
which has seen vast improvements for
its residents.
Originally known as the Scott Memo-
rial Hospital, Seaforth Manor has seen
a lot of changes over the years and has
exchanged hands many times before
Ed and Carolyn Ozimek bought the
property in the 1980s.
Erika King, general manager,
addressed guests explaining the day's
theme, History in the Making.
"History in the Making is all about
the story of today being written so that
it can be told and enjoyed tomorrow by
future generations," she said. "The peo-
ple here today, the people of Seaforth
Manor, provide one of the richest
sources of history in the Community of
Seaforth, overall."
King went on to explain how the
manor has different meaning for different
people.
"For some, it's a beautiful heritage home
in the Designated Heritage Community of
Seaforth, where neighbours, friends and
family give and receive care that is needed
with dignity, love and respect. For others, it
is the place where they were born, when it
was known as the Scott Memorial Hospital
or it is the place where they come to visit, to
volunteer, to work or become engaged in
community events, or they come to enjoy
the wonderful year-round entertainment or
receive training here from our partners in
education:'
Summing up the importance of the
manor, King made one thing very clear.
"This house, Seaforth Manor, is a 'home'
because very, very important people live
here," she said.
Guest speakers included Mayor Bernie
MacLellan; Joe Steffler, Huron CountyWar-
den and Deputy Mayor; as well as Seaforth
councilors Bob Fisher and Nathan
Marshall.
For Coun. Marshall, the day brought
back memories of his first job as a newspa-
per carrier in Seaforth.
"I used to have to make two stops here,
one on the main floor and one on the third.
Seeing the renovations to the third floor
today, it's just fantastic work," he said. "Ed
and Carolyn are just fantastic owners and I
know they'll continue to be fantastic own-
ers in the years to come:'
`Anytime we hear someone's making an
investment in the community and making
something better for the people who live
here, we always appreciate it and want to
give our thanks" said Mayor MacLellan. "I
loved driving up here and seeing there's
nothing but bumper to bumper cars with
the community coming out to support you.
I think that's a great sign of what Seaforth is
all about and thankyou for investing in our
community:'
