Students were visited by Philip Beck, Cana- dian partnership coordinator with Edu Deo Ministries, a mission organization which helps serve children in developing coun- tries with quality Christian education. "The students are learning about what the impact of education can be in developping nations," explained Beck, adding many chil- dren around the world do without technol- ogy, or even electricity, in school. Getting Canadian students to experience what it's like to live a day in the shoes of those in less fortunate countries is just one way Beck said they can find an appreciation for what they have. "Education is an incredibly important aspect of any country in terms of their devel- opment, therefore it's critical for the major- ity of the world to have access to quality edu- cation. It has a powerful impact in terms of transforming the lives of students, of school communities and of nations." As part of "A Day in Their Shoes," students worked on making toys out of ordinary household scrap materials. Creative creations included everything from dolls and cars to imaginative games and sports. Each prayer pal group also researched information on a differ- ent countries to present to the school at an afternoon assembly.
