HomeMy WebLinkAboutHuron Expositor, 2014-01-22, Page 22 Huron Expositor • Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Jr. First Lego League coming to Huron County Museum Ten -week program to focus on natural disasters Community volunteers, in partnership with the Huron County Museum, are pleased to offer the Jr. FIRST LEGO League to local children starting this month. Community volunteers are coordinating and administering the program while the museum is providing the facility and staff to make presentations about special topics throughout the 10 -week program. This year's challenge, established by FIRST, is Disaster Blaster. This is an exciting topic related to natural disasters such as floods, hurricanes, wildfires, tsunamis, tornados, snow storms and more. Please this will include discussion on the Goderich tornado, along with other natural disasters. There will be short videos shown of natural disasters. The museum will host "Sounds Like Music" on Thurs., Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The program is geared to children five to 10 years of age. Organizers said in a press release that participants will "investigate music and musical instruments from the museum's collections and discover Huron County's connection to music history." "Learn the science and sound and use your musical waves to make something that sounds like music," organizers stated. Cost is $20 per child, $15 for museum members.
