Huron East raises
grant budget for 2014

Huron Expositor
Huron East council chose to
increase its grant budget to
$22,000 for 2014 during their
meeting on Feb. 18.
Councillors reviewed a list of
more than 20 local groups who
have requested funding assist-
ance or who have received
municipal funding in the past,
choosing to increase the maxi-
mum amount of grant money by
$2,000 from last year.
With three grants still pending
further information; Clinton Pub-
lic Hospital, North Wood Ele-
mentary School Band and the
Seaforth Horticultural Society,
the grand total currently stands
at $18, 838.83.
The Huron Plowman's Associ-
ation received $250 more than
last year as the 2014 match is set
to take place in Huron County,
while the Clinton Lions Club also
received a $250 increase.
Other grants include $2,000 for
the Seaforth Santa Claus Parade,
$1,000 for the Brussels and Sea -
forth Fall Fairs, $700 for the Van
Egmond Foundation, $550 for
the Brussels Agricultural Society,
$500 each for the Brussels Santa
Claus Parade, Ethel Minor Ball,
St. Columban Soccer, Walton
Area Sports Club and the Win-
throp Ball Park, $400 for the Mait-
land Cemetary and $40 for the
Huron Centennial Public School
graduation award.
