Your patience in going that extra mile meant so much to us. To the community who sup- ported Anna so faithfully for so many years, allowed her to remain in her own home with dignity and grace. To the Seaforth Commu- nity Hospital, CCAC, Red Cross Home Care workers and visiting nurses, your at- tention to detail was second to none. Special thanks to each of the physicians who cared for Mom these past few weeks. To both Cavan and Northside United Churches, our sincerest thanks for opening your doors to us. It was a grand celebration to Anna's life. We cannot say enough to those who participated in Mom's service. Bruce Whitmore, you pulled together a eu- logy that captured Mom's spirit. Leopold Bernard 'Mel' Melanson of Seaforth, in his 85th year. Cherished father of Leanne McKay of Egmondville, Joanne Bartman of Goderich and Janine Courtemanche of Brampton. Loving grandfather of David, Lisa, Lori, Matthew (Crista), Sarah, Seth, Hannah, Celeste; and great-grandfather of Andrew, Gregory and Nevaeh. Dear brother of Laurier Melanson of Riverview, NB, Jacqueline Cantwell of Princeton, NJ, and Raoul Melanson (Cheryl McKay) of Riverview, NB. Also survived by his siblings -in-law, Les Habkirk (Diana) of Henderson, NV, Libby Wilson (Larry) of Goderich, Brian Habkirk (Dianne) of Pittsford, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Jacqueline Melanson (nee Habkirk) on July 12, 2010; two infant daughters Janice and Laurie; his parents James and Lea Melanson; sons-in-law Doug McKay and Rick Courtemanche; siblings Jean Louis Melanson, Maryse Topakian; and sister-in- law Jane Habkirk. Visitation was held at McGLYNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Thursday, January 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. (with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 6:30 p.m.) Mel's Funeral Mass was held at St. James Catholic Church, Seaforth, on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. Fr. Chris Gillespie officiated and the Pallbearers were fellow legion members, Mike Meidinger, Ron Hildebrand, Ross Govier, Ed Baker, Rick Fortune and Pat De Jong. A reception immediately followed at the Seaforth Legion, Branch 156, and spring interment will take place at Maitland Bank Cemetery, Seaforth. In Mel's memory, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Royal Canadian Legion, Seaforth Branch 156 can still be made through the funeral home or by visiting Mel's memorial at www.mcglynnfamilyfuneralhome.com 111111k - Obituaries Obituaries BARNES, Mildred - Mildred Myrtle (nee Gallop) Barnes passed away peacefully at Spruce Lodge Cottage A in Stratford on Saturday, January 25, 2014, in her 99th year. Born in Milverton, Ontario, on October 2, 1915, daughter of the late Edwin Gallop and Mary Roach. On July 1, 1944 in Kirkton, Ontario she married Leslie Barnes, whom predeceased her on March 6, 1992. Mildred farmed with her husband in the Staffa area until retiring to Mitchell and then to Stratford, living at the Anne Hathaway Retirement Residence. She served in the Canadian Women's Army and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Mitchell Branch 128. Mildred was also a member of Central United Church in Stratford. Survived by her children, Paul Barnes of RR#2 Staffa, Jim Barnes and his wife Mary of Seaforth and Mary and her husband Jim Kelly of Stratford. Cherished grandma of Cathy and Mike Mulholland of Wingham, Mike and Becky Barnes of Forest, Jenn and Craig Siebert of Seaforth, Jed and Michelle Kelly of St. Marys, Ellen Kelly of Stratford; and great-grandmother of fourteen. She will also be fondly remembered by her daughter-in-law Judy Barnes, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by siblings, Grace and Lorne Hodge, Winona and Ross Marshall, Ina and Donald McRae and Peggy and Reg Paul. Cremation has taken place and memorial visitation was held at McGLYNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Seaforth, 519-527-1390, on Friday, January 31st from 6-9 p.m. which followed a walk- through of Royal Canadian Legion Members at 5:45 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Mildred's life was held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. Rev. Kathi Urbasik-Hindley from Central United Church in Stratford officiated and a reception took place at the Seaforth Legion, Branch 156. Mildred's cremated remains will be interred at Staffa Cemetery in the spring of 2014. A heart -felt thanks to the staff of Spruce Lodge Cottage A for all the wonderful care, compassion and support. Memorial donations to the Diabetes Association, MS Society or the charity of choice are appreciated and can still be made through the funeral home or by visiting Mildred's memorial at www.mcglynnfamilyfuneralhome.com Obituaries Obituaries CONRAD JOSEPH ECKERT 1932-2014 It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of Con Eckert on January 27, 2014. After a long battle with cancer, he passed away at home at the age of 81. Con leaves behind his loving wife, best friend & soul mate, Adele, of 58 years. He is dearly missed by his children Tim & (Lorri), Dave, Rob & (Dana) and Sandra. Cherished by his grandchil- dren Jessica, DJ, Mikayla, Cassidy, Kaitlin, Olivia & Georgia. Predeceased by parents Joseph & Geraldine (nee O'Connor) Eckert; sisters Geraldine, Dorothy, Julia; brothers William, Stephen & Joseph. Survived by sisters Anne, Frances and Rosemary. Thank you to Dr. Peter Bolland & family, the staff at Credit Valley Hospital, CCAC, Vince & Tracey Ryan, family & friends for their compassion and support throughout his ill- ness. Dear broth- er Timothy Proctor (Emma Ward). He will be sadly missed by his in-laws Robert and Alana Weatherstone, and grandparents Marie Proctor and Dorothy Weatherstone. As well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many friends. Predeceased by his father Ronald Clare Proctor and Grandpar- ents William and Helen Taylor, Cam Proctor, Bob Weatherstone and Lillian and Allan Armstrong.
