"It's tough," said Cents forward Brandon Merritt. "We have a good bunch of guys and we have put the puck in the net, but we still have made mistakes in our end that have cost us games. We know we're close and that's part of the frustration for sure." One fact is true, despite scoring four or more goals in half their games, the team hasn't been able to clinch their first win. The team's best opportu- nity for a win came as an overtime tie verses the Mil- verton Drives in their season opener, with a score of 6 to 5, the same team who will come back to Seaforth for the Alumni Day game on Dec. 14. "We're hearing the question of when the first win will happen, it's popped up a lot," admitted Centenaires president Bill Tremeer. "We really want that and are confident it'll come, but as we laid out at the beginning of the year, we want a good atmos- phere and to get Center- naire hockey back in town. We knew it would be tough starting out, and that being said, we're no different than the fans, players or coaches, we would love to get one for sure." The team sees Alumni Day as a great motivator with activities going on in the arena with former players in attendance. The festivities start at noon when the team will host a lunch of wings and fries until Scoreboard Seaforth Shuffleboard Dec. 3 Men's high: Cor DeCorte, four wins; Frank Golding, Arnold Ramsey and Cor VandenHoven, three wins Ladies' high: Velma Preszcator and Anne Auchterlonie, three wins; Grace Corbett, Catherine DeCorte, Joyce Matzold and Charlotte North, two wins Seaforth Stars Minor Hockey ATOM REP Nov. 29 11 a.m. SEAFORTH STARS -5 LUCKNOW SEPOYS -3 7 p.m. SEAFORTH STARS -3 BCH ICE DOGS - 2 MIDGET REP Nov. 30 MINTO MAD DOGS - 7 SEAFORTH STARS -3 Dec. 30 MINTO MAD DOGS - 5 SEAFORTH STARS - 0 NOVICE LL Dec. 6 ELMA-LOGAN WILDCATS -11 SEAFORTH STARS - 0 NOVICE REP Dec. 1 MINTO MAD DOGS - 13 SEAFORTH STARS -1 PEEWEE LL Dec. 6 SEAFORTH STARS - 7 GODERICH SAILORS - 1 PEEWEE REP Dec. 5 GODERICH SAILORS - 6 SEAFORTH STARS - 2 get it 4'01111110 seaforthhuronexpositor.com 3 p.m., where everyone can meet at the Blueline Club. From 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., the Blueline Club will be playing the final game of the 1986 Cente- naires Jr. D championship game and in the back- ground playoff football will be going for hardcore sports fans. Then at 3:30 p.m., the Centenaires will line up against the Miver- ton Drive. "The goal for our Alumni Day is for former players, executives and fans to come out and visit," said Brett Lee, who has played a role in organ- izing the day. "We'll have a sign -in for former Cents when they arrive and they'll be able to share some stories and catch up with what, for many, was a really special time in their lives. It's free for any for- mer Centenaire players to join. We would like to have a few of the old cap- tains out for the puck drop and I hope it's a fun day out for everyone." +.11MTLIM I liPLE IQ ITL BM MAW . --.T.,"". "Kids high -five the players and people stick around for the entire game regardless of the score. It would be really special to get a win on Sunday against Milverton for sure, with many of the former players here."
