Tour of Duty ride takes
over Seaforth Legion
Whitney South

The Seaforth Legion played base
camp for the annual Tour of Duty
Motorcycle Ride on the morning of
Aug. 9.
The ride is an event organized by the
Association of Bikers for Awareness
Training and Education (A.B.A.T.E.)
chapter 11 and has served as a fund-
raiser for the Wounded Warriors pro-
ject for the past seven years.
According to the group's website, the
fund started in 2006 and supports all
Canadian Forces members wounded
during operations and aims to improve
the general morale and welfare of the
soldiers and their families by working
through first-line caregivers, medical
staff, chaplains and assisting officers.
For chapter president Leroy Hern,
the idea for the ride was just a good
thing to do.
"I would imagine when the sol-
diers get the little care packages, it
helps them realize someone's think-
ing of them back home in Canada,"
he explained.
This year's ride began in Seaforth,
headed to Lucan, St. Mary's and

forth legion.
"We've done this for years, the first
three were out of Blyth," said Hern. "It's
our fourth year in Seaforth and we
couldn't have asked for a better day."
