Souper Saturday raises over $6,000 for Seaforth and District Food Bank

With the help of social media and a more
aggressive advertising campaign, not to men-
tion some great soup, this year's Souper Satur-
day proved to be the most successful yet.
Exceeding their $6,000 fundraising goal,
organizer Herb McGowan says he was
thrilled at the turnout.
"It really was a quality event.We had a
record crowd come through and I was told by
the pie and cake committee we broke a
record there as well."
Over two dozen clear and cream -style
soups lined the tables, created by profes-
sional and amateur chefs alike, all to help
raise money for the local food bank.

Warren and Betty Small took home the best clear soup award for the Seaforth
Optimist Club's chicken tortilla soup.

Club was on hand, helping dole out chicken
tortilla soup with wife Betty.
"We've been coming here all five years and
this is the best we've seen," he said, adding
how great it was to see so much support com-
ing from the community. "It's all about work-
ing together and doing what we can to help
each other, it's been a great day."

This year's winners included the team from
CICNX for their white cheddar beer soup in
the cream soup category, the Seaforth Opti-
mist Club's chicken tortilla soup in the clear
soup category and Blooms and Rooms for
their potato corn and bacon soup in the peo-
ple's choice category.
