Huron County Junior
Farmers win big at
conference
The Huron County Junior Farmers
attended the Junior Farmers Associa-
tion of Ontario's March Conference,
held in Cornwall this year, and are
ecstatic to share their successes.
The Banquet was held Saturday
March 29, 2014. They were awarded
the Overall Club of the Year Award for
2013. The club was chosen for its par-
ticipation in local communities, mem-
bership participation, leading agricul-
ture education, joint youth activities,
conservation projects, media rela-
tions, hosting the province for Sing
Swing in November and supporting
the JFAO mission statement, "To build
future rural leaders through self help
and community betterment" and the
year's theme, which was, "Just Say
Yes."
The club also had member, Saman-
tha Klaver receive the Most Outstand-
ing Member of the Year for 2013.
Samantha was chosen for her out-
standing leadership and dedication in
Huron County, being a great Ambas-
sador for Junior Farmers and agricul-
ture and representing Junior Farmers
i
at numerous events.
The club also received a couple of
communication awards, including the
Best New Fundraising Idea Award, for
sharing why their Slo Pitch tourna-
ment held in Kirkton last June was the
best. The money raised from that tour-
nament went to the
Huron County Christ-
mas Bureau. Huron
County Junior Farmers
also won the Best New
Member Recruitment
Activity Award for a
Wing Night that they
held at Crabby Joe's in
Exeter in January.
The club is very
thrilled with their
accomplishments and
look forward to what
2014 has in store.
