As the snow begins to melt
and buds begin to bloom, and so
arrives that most welcome sea-
son, spring.
April brings with it more than
just warmer days and shorter
nights, but a time of fundraising
and awareness in the form of
Daffodil Month, the month to
support Canadians living with
cancer.
Each year, the Canadian Can-
cer Society asks communities all
over the country to join them in
order to change cancer forever.
To some the daffodil is just a
flower, but to many it's a symbol
of hope. Delicate yellow flowers
that symbolize those who refuse
to give up and choose to fight
back.
According to the Canadian
Cancer Society, there are many
ways for Seaforth residents to
support the Daffodil Month
campaign.

canvassing campaign. During
April when a volunteer knocks
on your door, please think of
friends or family members fight-
ing the biggest fights of their
lives. With every donation, large

receipt and a daffodil pin.
(Canadian Cancer Society can-
vassers will have official tax

Cancer Society nametag with
them)
Launching a workplace cam-

the Canadian Cancer Society to
set up a daffodil campaign in the
workplace. You can fight cancer
with your colleagues by creating
a virtual daffodil garden, hosting
a Wear Yellow Day, or having a
bake sale. Find out how easy it is
to make your office into cancer
fighters by contacting us at

Supporting a school cam-
paign. Some local schools will
be hosting Daffodil Days later in
the month, watch for informa-
tion to come home from your
school to learn more.
Every donation made during
Daffodil Month will help the
Canadian Cancer Society pro-
vide information and support
for people living with cancer and
their families. Their free Cancer
Information Service helps thou-
sands of Canadians each year
and the Wheels of Hope trans-
portation program helped
approximately 250 people right
here in Huron and Perth Coun-
ties get to their cancer related
appointments last year.
Throughout the month of
April, the need for support grows
with each passing day.
Last year, an estimated
187,000 people were diagnosed
with cancer in Canada. And, as
the population grows and ages,
the number of new cancer cases
continues to rise.
