SIU investigates crash in Huron East
Whitney South
Huron Expositor
Ontario's Special Investiga-
tions Unit (SIU) has stepped in
and are currently investigating a
single vehicle crash in East
Huron which left two London
teenagers injured.
Huron County OPP say they
spotted a vehicle, which had been
reported stolen by London Police,
in the area of Main St. South and
Goderich St. in Seaforth around
2:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers attempted to pull
the car over, but the driver
refused to stop.
While traveling southbound on
Division Line in the municipality
of Huron East, police say the driver
lost control of the vehicle, which
then rolled into the ditch.
The driver of the vehicle, an
18 -year-old London woman, was
taken to hospital with undeter-
mined injuries, while her 17 -year-
old male passenger, also from
London, was released from hospi-
tal with minor injuries.
The SIU is a civilian law
enforcement agency, independ-
ent of the police, that conducts
criminal investigations into
circumstances involving police
and civilians that have resulted
in serious injury, death or alle-
gations of sexual assault.
Division Line between Huron
Rd. and Front Rd. remained closed
as the investigation continued
throughout the day and motorists
were asked to take alternate routes
to avoid the area.
Whitney South
Division line remained closed
throughout the day March 26
after an OPP pursuit ended in
a crash which left two London
teenagers injured.
