F4Enzb_. Children's Centre honoured as Employer of Distinction Whitney South Huron Expositor The Seaforth Cooperative Children's Centre was recently honoured by Conestoga College as one of their Employers of Distinction for 2014. Alongside winners such as KVV Counselling and Vista Villa Farms of Walton, the centre was chosen by Conestoga's School of Career and Academic Access for providing a high level of support to the school and its clients. Jenni Helm, career and work coach, and employer liaison with the Conestoga Career Cen- tre, was onhand here in Sea - forth to present the award. "We wanted to honour employ- eers for providing exceptional training opportunities for local individuals," explained Helm, adding that anytime an employer chooses to take on an apprentice, it involves quite a large and dedicated commitment. "The Seaforth Centre continues to be a perfect fit for the program and they are very deserving of this award." Seaforth Co-operative Chil- dren's Centre is a licensed child care facility which offers both part-time and full-time care to families in Huron East. The Centre says it's their mis- sion to serve parents through quality childcare in the belief that a good start in the forma- tive years of childhood provides children with a lasting founda- tion for success throughout their lives. "We were so pleased to be selected for this award," said Naomi Pelss, director of the Chil- dren's Centre. Explaining the pro- gram benefits more than just the apprentise, Pelss said the staff has always welcomed the chance to lend a hand, and enjoy the oppor- tunity to teach. "It only makes the staff stronger and really help us to understand the importance of teamwork. It's been great for everybody." Conestoga's School of Career and Academic Access provides academic and employment serv- ices in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Stratford, Wellesley, Arthur, New Hamburg, Elmira, St. Marys, Listowel and various locations across Huron county, through Career Centres at the Stratford, Waterloo and Doon campuses. get it *Onl• ine www.seaforthhuronexpositoncom
