Services for ,both • funerals were
Conducted in the ` Kinloss. : United
Church, where aNlarge number of old
friends .and neighbors paid their last
respects' to., the deceased: ' Rev.. Mr..
Waldron ,pastor of the church, eon,.
ducted ,the services and spoke very
highly ' of the•'aged couple. Interim
was made in Greenhill cemetery.
The .late Mr. Colwell .was . born in
Goderich township in the year 1848
and. Was the son of the late John
Colell and Mary Ann Browning: H•e
cable' . to the town of Kincardine• at
the age 'et !16' years:'
The late Mrs: Colwell• whose mai-
den name was Rebecca Portiss, was
born in Huron township inthe year -
1850,. daughter _of.•the.late, John For-
tiss and : Ann Smith.
• The late Mr. and Mks. Colwell were
-married in, the town of Kincardine in
July. .1872; almost sixty .years. ago,.
where • they spent . the first few years
of -their - married --life: -Later:.-they..

The deceased were' highly. respected
by all, who knew, them.. They' were
'ioneers in.every. sense of the word,
hard workers, good - managers, ' in-
dustrious and always ready to lend `a
helping hand. They leave to mourn,
their•' loss a •.family of four girls and
six boys - namely, Mrs. George Fair..

The death of Donald Murchison
his seventy-sixth year occurred at
hits home in the village of Ripley . oh

The funeral sepeice • was held in
Knex Presbyterian church, Ripley on•
Tuesday. The remains. were interred
in Ripley cemetery. ;
Mr, Murchison was for a few years
a resident of Lucknow, makitig his
home with Mr. Andrew Loekart, who
at that time lived near the mill pond.

Miss Winifred Armstrong received
en unexpected cold dip as Well as a
bad fright on Thursday evening of
last week' while skating on the pond
when she skated into open ,water
which took her up to the neck: .
Until New Yea's day skaters had
enjoyed a 'splendid sheet of ice, how;
ever,, this was spoiled' by the recent
sleet storm, which was followed by
mild weather. ,With a drop in ,tem-
perature this,pastime was' again•;
taken up and n Thursday night a
party of 'young people were enjoy-
ing themselves when the ' aec4dent oc-
curred. "

formed was' responsiblefor the haz-
ardous 'spot into which Miss Arm-,
strong sank. Mel Hackett; her skat-
