Gerard Creces
Clinton News -Record
About 15 protestors held a demon-
stration in front of Huron -Bruce Con-
servative MP Ben Lobb's Goderich
office Saturday, Nov. 16, raising aware-
ness and expressing their concern for
the Harper government's commitment
to oil pipelines and the effect this will
have on the environment.
The demonstration was one 130 that
were staged across Canada this past
weekend as part of the Citizens' Climate
Lobby protest against the tar sands.
Organizer Dan Taylor said the coun-
try is headed in the wrong direction
when it comes to sustainable
environment.
"Canada needs to find and develop a
climate change policy," he said Nov. 16.

"We can find ways of maintaining our good life, but without
the destruction that occurs."
From the cars we drive to the food we harvest and eat, Tay-
lor said dependence on oil is embedded in our lives, though
he added that is no reason to avoid looking at alternatives.
Passing cars honked their horns in support of the protest,
and a handful stopped to sign the petition asking for the gov-
ernment to step up with a climate change plan. For Taylor,
the action is coming almost too late.
"What type of life are we leaving?" he said. "Thirty years
ago we should have been out here.
Radars, VanDriel hosting
weekend full of hockey
This Saturday, Nov 23, the Clinton Radars are hosting their
Minor Hockey Night at the Central Huron Community Com-
plex, taking on the Tillsonburg Thunder. Minor hockey play-
ers get free admission for wearing their hockey sweaters to
the game, and the popular Skate with the Radars event begins
at 7 p.m. before game time at 8:30 p.m. There are draws for
the kids, as well as a grand prize - $400 to be put towards next
year's hockey registration. The draw is for players from BCH,
Seaforth and Blyth -Brussels associations.
As part of their 25th anniversary celebration, VanDriel
Excavating will be sponsoring the Clinton Radars' Nov. 22
home game against the Milverton Four -Wheel Drives.
The family-owned business was founded in November of
1988, concentrating on drainage repairs and foundation
excavating and site preparation.
VanDriel Excavating currently employs 20 people and has
grown to focus on municipal contracting jobs.
All public school students will receive free admission to
Friday's game, and draws will be held between periods, for
gift certificates and London Knights tickets.
