Merry Christmas from Huron Christian School
THE IMPORTANCE OF
CHRISTMAS - GRADE 8
The importance of Christmas
to me is remembering how
Christmas was actually started.
It wasn't Santa, elves or his
reindeer. I was the birth of
Jesus. Jesus was born in to
the world to be our savior and
died to wipe our sins away. I try
to focus more on Jesus than
presents. It still isn't bad to give
presents on Christmas. After all,
God gave us the best present
ever on Christmas, his son, even
though he knew we would kill
him. That is the most important
thing about Christmas to me.
— Robert Janssen
I think Christmas is important
because we can remember and
enjoy that Jesus was born. Most
people think it is about presents
and gifts. A lot of times !think
it is about gifts, but when I go
to church I get reminded what
Christmas is all about. 1 love to
share and remember people
what Christmas is all about.
— Brenden VanWyk
What is Christmas? Well, it is
when Christ was sent. Christmas
i,1
is Christmas, not Xmas or what
you might think it is. It is a
celebration about Jesus being
born and it's not just about The
presents. It's about the MEANING
of them, since God gave us
gifts to remind us of that.
— Isaac VanSeost
Christmas... Christmas...
Christmas... Such a
heavenly word.
It is such a nice word, so beautiful,
it sounds so good it makes my
ears dingle back when I hear it.
There's a lot more things about
Christmas than just presents
and the best food in the world.
It is all about Jesus' birth. The
gift he gave to us. He gave us
happiness, gladness, but we
give him sadness and pain. Why
would God send his own son
if he knew his son would die
on the deadly, painful cross?
Imagine if you had a son and he
always listened, always obeyed
and always helped on the farm
and when he gets older he died
on the cross. Poor, poor God. He
would have been sad, but now
at least Jesus is with him and
has a happy life in Heaven. Well,
just think of it the next time you
open up a Christmas present.

Why is Christmas important to
me? How important is it to other
people, for example, my parents,
friends, family or strangers?
Christmas is important to me
because God sent his only son to
save and suffer for us. To anyone
out there who doesn't think
Christmas is important, think
of someone you really love and
picture them being taken from
you and used to die for someone
else. God sent his only son to
us, not as a king or someone
wealthy and important. In fact,
he was bom in a dirty, smelly
bam. Jesus is the biggest gift
you will ever receive. That is why
I think Christmas is important.
— Toon Garritsen
A lot of people think Christmas
is a time to celebrate presents, a
Christmas tree and Santa. But the
true meaning of Christmas goes
way beyond that. Christmas is a
time to remember the importance
of what Christ did for us.
Christmas is a time to thank Jesus
for what he did. He was born to
save our sins. Jesus was born
from Mary and laid in a manger,
nothing special yet he was king.
Jesus healed many and saved
many. He also performed many
miracles and the story goes on.
Next time you think of Christmas,
cherish all the time you spend
with your family. But most of all
remember Jesus the Messiah
who was bom to save our sins.
Rachel Vanderiaan
From gifts, to Santa Claus, to
hot chocolate and candy canes,
the importance of Christmas
stretches very far. We all love
it when someone hands us
our long-awaited gifts, and we
have the joy of putting up the
Christmas decorations on the
tree. Sounds fun, but the most
important part of Christmas is
not the gifts and decorations,
but the birth of Jesus Christ. He
was bom in a small stable, laid
in a trough and later in his life he
performed many miracles and
taught many about God. He came
to save us and to remind us of
God's love for us. He gives us
the feelings of hope, peace, joy
and love. Christmas is a time to
celebrate that and to remember
the importance of Jesus
— Andrea Rether
Christmas means different
things to different people. What
Christmas means to me is that
Jesus was born. Also to me it
means that Jesus came to save
us from our sins. It means that
it is time to reflect on God's
gift to the world and ponder on
Jesus' life on earth. Christmas
is a gift and Jesus wraps it up.
— Sarah Waanders
Christmas is a time of joy, a time
when it's your tum to give, a time
to really understand what God has
given you – Jesus. Jesus being
born brought joy. Jesus brought
love and compassion to the weak
and poor and gave them someone
to trust, someone to love them.
During Christmas it's your tum to
give something to others and let
your light shine so that they can
truly believe there is someone
there watching us, someone
that will come to set us free.
Next time you have Christmas
think of its real meaning.
— Rachel Waanders
Christmas is a time to cherish.
It's a time to be with family and
to be happy. But Christmas is
much more than that. Christmas
is the time to celebrate Christ's
birth. For some it's, "What am I
going to get for Christmas?" But it
should be to celebrate the savior
coming to earth. And that's why
Christmas is important to me.
