United Way and Scotiabank teaming up
Donations being
matched up to
$15,000
United Way Perth -Huron has
announced a new partnership with Scot-
iabank for the 2013 Care -A -Van of Hope, as
branches across the counties of Huron and
Perth were collecting donations until
Thursday, Dec. 12.
Through their Team Scotia Community
Program, Scotiabank will be matching
donations up to $15,000. Rob Roes, com-
munity branch manager at Scotiabank,
said, "We are so honoured to be involved
with this matching program. We know
there is a need in the community and Sco-
tiabank is happy to work with the United
Way to help make our community better
for everyone."
On Thursday, Dec. 12, United Way staff,
volunteers and supporters headed to Sco-
tiabank branches in Goderich, Mitchell,
Exeter, Milverton, St. Marys and Stratford
to collect money raised at the branches,
accept additional donations, hear stories
from United Way members and receive
greetings from local dignitaries.

Success for 4H
Huron County 4H celebrated another
year of accomplishments at their 2013
awards ceremony Nov. 17 at the Seaforth
Agri-plex. Members received awards for
showmanship, club completions, ploughing,
dedication and life skill, including the
Wawanosh Life Skill Club, who are
provincial champions. The venue was also
decked out for the 100th anniversary of
4-H Canada, and Huron -Bruce MPP and
former 4H member Lisa Thompson helped
hand out the awards. The 4H Huron group
thanks all their sponsors and supporters,
families and friends for another successful
year.
TOP The Go For the Gold team from the
Wawanosh Life Skill Club won the local,
regional and provincial competitions. The
provincial competition was held at the
Royal Winter Fair in Toronto Nov. 2.

Award was presented to Shawn Ryan by
Mr. Cardiff's grandson, Matt Cardiff.

Pullen Award for the highest points in the
county to Melissa Maclntyre. Maclntyre
earned a total of 959 out of a possible
1000.
