Annual "Thomas the Tank Engine" Day at Clinton's
School on Wheels Museum
Who doesn't love trains?
They've fascinated the
young and not -so -young
from the time the very first
locomotive chugged along a
track in the 1800's. And one
of the most famous steam
engines is blue, has his own
series of books, stars in tele-
vision programmes—and is
called "Thomas:'
The School on Wheels
Museum will host its annual
"Thomas Day" on Saturday,
September 6, from 10:00 a.m.
to 3:00 p.m. in Sloman Park on
Victoria Terrace in Clinton.
The afternoon will feature
a large, hands-on Thomas
Toys display for children to
enjoy, a scavenger hunt with
prizes, a bubble centre, face
painting, and of course,
tours of Huron County's
most celebrated train/
school car. In addition, a
model of "Thomas the Tank
Engine" will be on site,
courtesy of Fincher's Book
Store, for that one -of -a -kind
photo opp of kids climbing
aboard Thomas.
The School on Wheels
Museum also will be sponsor-
ing a very special free draw as
a highlight of Thomas the
Tank Engine Day.
Admission is free. There's
fun to be had. Don't miss it.
HAHN holds event to promote arts, culture and heritage

If you love Huron County
and want to hear some fasci-
nating stories that the area has
to tell then this year's Doors
Open event, entitled "Re -
Imagine Huron: Step into Our
Stories" and organized by the
Huron Arts & Heritage Net-
work (HAHN), might be of
particular interest to you.
On September 12, 13 and 14
over 30 historic sites and places
of interest will open their doors
and feature performances and
displays by various local artists,
architectural walks, author
readings, guided trail hikes, a
stained-glass window tour and
a speakers' series featuring local
historians just to name a few.
Some of the sites involved
in the event are Clinton's
School on Wheels Museum,
the Holmesville Church Gal-
lery, the Bayfield Town Hall,
the Seaforth Golf & Country
Club, Iceculture in Hensall,
the Coastal Coffee Company
in Zurich, the Livery in Goder-
ich, the Blyth Memorial Com-
munity Hall, the Brussels
Library and the Alice Munro
Literary Garden in Wingham.
"This year's theme, "Re -
Imagine Huron: Step into Our
Stories" encourages us to look
at things we think we know
with fresh eyes and to appre-
ciate the history and stories of

There will also be aphotogra-
phy contest this year that will
consist of three categories. For
the first category, the `Architec-
tural Scavenger Hunt" category
participants are asked to find
and photograph examples of
various specified architectural
styles and features. For the sec-
ond category, "Best Selfie at a
Doors Open Site," participants
are asked to take a picture of
themselves at their favourite
site and post it on the Doors
Open Facebook page with the
title "Doors Open Selfie" and
their name. For the third cate-
gory, "Award for Best Image
from Doors Open Huron,"
participants are asked to submit
to Facebook a photo of a Doors
Open site. The winner of each
category will receive a prize
which hasyet to be announced.
HAHN is a not-for-profit
community organization that
represents organizations,
individuals and businesses in
the arts, culture and heritage
sector of Huron County.
According to the network, its
top goals are as follows:
1. To increase participation
of residents and visitors to

ture and heritage program-
