The Clinton News Record
It's official. The new res-
taurant in Clinton is open
and ready for business. Ear-
lier this summer the family
restaurant, Route 4 Diner,
opened its doors for the first
time and, just recently, it
proudly hung its attractive
new sign outside.
Upon walking into Route
4, which seats about 60
people, one feels at home as
the diner has a casual and
relaxed feel. The food also
makes one feel at home as
the restaurant offers many
comfort foods that are not
just tasty but reasonably
priced as well. For example,
one can order three eggs,
home fries and toast for only
$4.99. Also, the "Shef's Hun-
gry Traveler" includes two
pieces of bacon, two sau-
sages, two pieces of ham,

three eggs, home fries, toast,
two pancakes or two pieces
of French toast and coffee
for only $10.29. The diner's
daily specials are also a good
deal. For example, for $25
customers can enjoy a din-
ner for two which includes
roast beef or ham, a choice
of potato, vegetables, coffee
or tea and pie.
Other items served at
Route 4 include an all day
breakfast, salads, sand-
wiches, wraps, homemade
burgers, fresh cut fries, kids
meals, homemade pies
baked by local Mennonites
and soft serve ice cream.
Also, now that school has
started, the diner will begin
to offer school specials, such
as, poutine for $4 and a
burger and fries for $5.
Route 4 Diner is owned
and operated by Wende Wil-
son. Wilson moved from
Guelph to Hensall one year
ago and has worked in the
food industry for 26 years as
both a server and cook.
Wilson is also the owner
and operator of the other
Route 4 Diner location in
Hensall. Wilson always
dreamed of opening up her
own restaurant and was
delighted when she learned
that both of these local res-
taurants were up for sale last
year. She discovered the
Clinton location as she was
driving through town one
day and found the Hensall
location on Kilih. Immedi-
ately, she knew that she
wanted to purchase both
places. "I love the fact that
both restaurants are on the
same road," she says.
Wilson's mother, Linda
Wilson, who also works at
the diner, describes her
daughter as being a "great
cook and hard worker." The
other staff members at the
Clinton location are all from
Clinton and each provide
courteous and friendly
service.
Wilson encourages people
to come out and try both of
her diners, whichever location
is more convenient for them,
and points out that there are
already regulars who stop by
the restaurants daily which
Wilson loves to see.
The Clinton location is
open 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
every day (except Christmas
Day) and the Hensall loca-
tion is open 7 a.m. until 3
p.m. every day (except
Christmas Day).
