Woodshop construction at St. Anne's

As the month of October
kicks up, the clubs and
sports teams at St. Anne's
Catholic Secondary School
begin moving into full
swing.
The Woodworking Club, in
particular, is working on a
very meaningful project that
is due mid-October. Stu-
dents in the club are working
together to build a sturdy,
functional shed that will be
donated to Habitat for
Humanity Huron County, a
"non-profit, non-govern-
ment, incorporated charita-
ble organization" that exists
to build new homes in place
of poverty housing. The
school has been involved
with yearly projects of this
kind for about five years now
in Goderich, Exeter, Sea -
forth, and Clinton. This
year's construction project
will, once again, be donated
to Exeter.
There are 24 students
within the Woodworking
Club who are collaborating
on the construction project
which will require $1,500 of
materials to create.
However, the St. Anne's
students will have outside
help to assist them. About
five adults from the local
area will pitch in to help
with construction. These
people can be anyone but
they are usually skilled in
the trades and have experi-
ence in construction.

CHSS honour students recognized
At an assembly at Central Huron Secondary School earlier
this month select students from all grades were recognized
as honour students if their grades were an average of 80%.
Some of the same students were also presented with awards
for excelling in certain classes. Pictured here are Victoria
Sultan and Gram Falconer, two students who congratulated
the honour students at CHSS.
