From the moment a new vehicle begins its life on the assembly line the metal used in the manufacturing begins the process to return to its natural state: iron ore. Rust is created when iron, oxygen and water combine to create an electrochemical reaction we know as corrosion. If you remove one of the three elements in the simple rustformula you can prevent corrosion from advancing. Diamond-Kote's liquid corrosion barrier compounds are independently tested to exceed the highest automotive corrosion resistance standards in the world. The underside of the vehicle is cleaned if necessary. We then apply rustproofing to the complete underside sheet metal of the car or truck. The product is sprayed on under pressure with several types ofapplicatorguns and wands.Wethen spray with a different material inside all of the doors (with a 360 degree 12 inch wand) and also inside the lip of the hood and inside the trunk lid. We do not drill holes in the vehicle, we used existing drain holes to go in with the wand and get coverage. We use two types of spray, one is the black thick underbody coating.The second product we use is called a topside coating used for the doors, hood and truck lid. It has a more clear look to it .The topside product may be visible and is a thinner fluid when applied to creep into pockets. The topside product is also the same product used when performing an oil spray to a vehicle. It is the same process as in rustproofing but the topside (oil spray) is used for underbody and inner panels. Undercoating does not need to be done every year. It is a one-time application and one-time fee. You can have it inspected every year and touched up if any spots have been rubbed or ground off. Oil spray is typically done every year or second year. Because it is a thinner product and does require a reapplication, we suggest rustproofing for newer cars. Oil spray ever year and typically it is done in the fall , but can be done anytime.
