The motorist failed to stop for police, and continued on into Auburn where the vehicle pulled into the lot of a gas station/ restaurant. There the vehi- cle collided with an unattended parked car. The male driver ran from the vehi- cle in an attempt to evade police. Within approximately half an hour, Huron OPP officers with the assis- tance of the OPP West Region Canine Unit, located the male hid- ing from police a short distance from where he abandoned his car. A 33 year old male of the Munic- ipality of Huron East has been charged with the following Crimi- nal Code of Canada offences: - Dangerous Driving - Flight from peace officer - Operation while Disqualified He has also been charged with the following Highway Traf- fic Act of Ontario offences: - Driving while under suspension - Use plate not authorized for vehicle The male remains in custody while awaiting a bail hearing. BLUEWATER — Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers con- tinue to investigate an early morn- ing break and enter that took place on September 26, 2014. Just before 3:00 a.m. three male suspects attended the Zurich Phar- macy located on Goshen Street North. Upon arrival at the phar- macy the suspects managed to gain entry into the building by prying open the front door. An audible alarm sounded and the suspects imme- diately exited the building without stealing any product from the store. The suspects left the scene travel- ling eastbound on Zurich-Hensall Road in a black, four door crew cab pickup. CENTRAL HURON — A recent traf- fic stop for speeding on Huron Road has resulted in the driver facing charges of Possession of Marihuana and Speeding. On September 25, 2014 at 4:12 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a black Mazda Tribute speeding eastbound on Huron Road near Holmesville. The officer con- firmed the speed of the motor vehicle with a RADAR instrument and deter- mined the vehicle was travelling at 108 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped by police and upon speaking with the male driver police detected the odour of marihuana coming from inside the vehicle. Further investiga- tion led police to the seizure of a small quantity of marihuana that was in the possession of the driver. The driver, a 47 year old male from North York was arrested and searched at the scene. He was charged with Speeding and Possession of a Con- trolled Substance — Marihuana con- trary to Section 4 (1) of the Con- trolled Drugs and Substances Act. He has a scheduled court appearance set for November 10, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice — Goderich. SOUTH HURON — Just before 4:30 p.m. on September 27, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to patrol for a possible impaired driver. Police received information from a witness that the driver of a Buick sedan was travelling in an erratic manner north- bound on Highbury Avenue from Mid- dlesex Centre into Huron County. Police located and stopped the sus- pect vehicle on Morrison Line. Upon speaking with the driver police observed the male to be displaying several signs that he was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment for breath tests. He provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples regis- tered over the legal limit. Police also completed a driver's licence check and it revealed the driver held a sus- pended driver's licence and was cur- rently disqualified from driving. As a result, a 41 year old male from Exeter been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle — Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Driving While Disqualified and Driving While Under Suspension. He has a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice — Exeter on Octo- ber 30, 2014. He received an auto- matic 90 day driver's licence sus- pension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for forty five days.
