In my capacity as Chair- man of Clinton Raceway, I have worked closely with Council over the past 14 years to implement initia- tives which have been of benefit to both the Raceway and our communities. This has led to my involvement in many projects that have gone beyond the scope of just the Raceway such as the Municipality's Strategic Planning sessions and the Fundraising Committee for the Central Huron Commu- nity Complex, among others. Throughout these experi- ences I have admired the commitment of our current and past Councillors to find- ing solutions to the chal- lenges which face Central Huron. I would like to become more involved in this process and feel I have a lot to offer our communities. Top 3 issues: 1. How do we continue to provide excellent health care, education and the amenities which will serve and attract young families to our communities? 2. How can we promote and encourage business in our communities? 3. How do we retain our rural identity, particularly when more and more deci- sions are made for us by higher levels of government who either fail to understand or seem not care about our rural lifestyle? Contact information: 519-482-5909 Other: Alex Westerhout Why are you running? I am running because I've enjoyed my 4 years on Coun- cil and I feel like I have a lot more to offer. Top 3 issues: 1. Taxation and municipal spending are issues that I hear a lot about. Bringing in a responsible budget is a critical yearly challenge as it affects all other decisions. While doing this, we need to be aware of infrastructure repairs or replacements that will be required in the foreseeable HAPPY 65TH ANNIVERSARY ARNOLD & NORA KEYS future. As well, we have two solar power projects that are going to give us significant added revenue - debt reduc- tion, tax stabilization, infra- structure needs and eco- nomic development are just some of the ideas for this new revenue. 2. We need to continue to move the REACH Centre for- ward by offering more pro- grams and activities while strengthening its financial viability. 3. The impact of Industrial Wind Turbines and how we will deal with this issue if/or when they come to this municipality. Education and/or work experience: I attended Central Huron Secondary School, after which I went to the University of Guelph and graduated with a BSc in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Agri -Business.
