Huron County Bridal & Event Expo donates to CPS
Tara Ostner, The Clinton News Record
On November 14 representatives of the Huron County Bridal & Event Expo proudly donated a cheque worth $660 to the Clinton Public
Hospital Foundation, money that the bridal and event expo raised in door proceeds in October. Pictured here (from left to right) are the
fundraising chair of the hospital foundation, Una Roy, members of the 2014 bridal show committee, Heather Dietz and Nancy Snell, executive
assistant for the hospital foundation, Virginia Steckle, and chair of the hospital foundation, Janice Cosgrove. Missing from the photo are the
2014 bridal show committee members, Luann Taylor and Ashley Montgomery. The bridal show committee would like to remind people that
the next bridal and event expo will be held at the Central Huron Community Complex on October 25, 2015.

With good progress
being made on an
installation of a drain
around the outside of
the Clinton Community
Centre, town recreation
officials are waiting for
the engineer's go-
ahead to tart the ice
plant and flood the
arena floor. Don R. Kay,
chairman of the Town
recreation Committee,
says if the work goes as
planned, the rink might
be ready for use a week
from Saturday. Under
the heavy pressure to
get the rink open first
and faced with the
urgent need to correct
conditions which led to
cracking or the arena

The Ontario Ministry
of Health has delayed
plans for renovating
and updating Clinton
public Hospital, but the
board of governors
decided Monday night
to go ahead and get
plans anyway, in order
to find out the real cost.
Health Minister Dennis
Timbrell announced
Friday that Clinton's
renovating plans, along
with the plans of a
dozen other hospitals
in this part of the prov-
ince, had been deferred
until 1980-81 or later
because of an over
spent health budget.

No longer must small
town businesses rate
second to city competi-
tion. Today, towns like
Clinton are promoting
and expanding their
business sections to
give local, and
out -of -area customers,
quality products and
personal service. The
32 -year-old jewelry
firm, Anstett Jewellers,
is one local business
that has given Clinton
customers just this.
Throughout the compa-
ny's successful history,
it has expanded to five
area towns, and in the
past year Anstett Manu-
facturing Ltd. has been
established to provide
in -company service.

Incumbent Huron -
Bruce MP Paul Steckle
proved once again he is
a formidable force at
election time, wining
49.9 per cent of the
popular vote on Mon-
day, almost equal to all
the votes cast for his
five opponents. The
Liberal MP, known for
often voting against
party lines, raised some
eyebrows when he said,
during the election
campaign, that the Lib-
eral leader Prime Min-
ister Jean Chretien
should leave the party
leadership. The Prime
Minister responded
that he was working to
help elect all his MPs,
including Steckle.
