Last Wednesday people
had the opportunity to net-
work with local business
owners, employees, suppli-
ers and potential customers
at the annual Bridges to Bet-
ter Business Seminar &
Tradeshow. The main goal of
the event was to provide a
venue in which people could
share ideas and make con-
nections which could lead to
new business and overall
prosperity in Clinton and
Huron County.
The unique event was
hosted by The Huron Small
Business Enterprise Centre
and the Clinton & Central
Huron BIA and was held at
the Central Huron Commu-
nity Centre & REACH
Centre.
One of the main highlights
of the day was when keynote
speaker and author of "Nuts,
Bolts &A Few Loose Screws,"
Gair Maxwell, presented a
talk entitled "Branding with
Distinction in Huron
County" which described
ways to create effective and
memorable brands.
nar
Maxwell is an internation-
ally renowned speaker who
is best known for his belief
that when it comes to build-
ing a name for oneself
branding is key. More specif-
ically, he believes in individ-
ual branding and telling
one's own story. Alison
Lobb, a business consultant
at the Huron Small Business
Enterprise Centre, agrees
with this philosophy.
As Lobb says, "you need to
brand Central Huron but
you also have to brand Clin-
ton" and Clinton should
work on "developing its very
own branding, logo and
niche."
Other highlights of the
event included numerous
exhibitors, hot treats pro-
vided by Devon Tabor out of
Clinton, various prizes as
well as a free tradeshow that
was open to the public in the
evening.
The Huron Small Business
Enterprise Centre and the
Clinton & Central Huron BIA
wish to thank everyone
involved in the seminar and
tradeshow for their interest,
participation and
sponsorship.
