Asking all to Remember
To Clinton and area residents,
Every November we ask all to
`REMEMBER,' pin a poppy to your lapel,
and on the eleventh hour of the elev-
enth day of the month take a moment to
honour and remember those who
served our county. For that we and our
veterans Thank You.
We ask for your support as a
community service organization who
help our veterans, ex -service members
and their families. We also support
Cadets, youth programs, track & field,
and award bursaries to students and
numerous community charities with
NO government funding. We ask that
you visit our Clinton Branch, use our
facility that was built for you by our vet-
erans, to help keep this landmark open.
You do not have to be a veteran or
related to a veteran to be a member.
Everyone is Welcome. We thank our
members and all those who are sup-
porting us.
With the recent tragedies that have
happened at the Ottawa War Memorial
and in Quebec to two soldiers who gave
selflessly to protect our country, we
have seen coast to coast outraged at
their senseless deaths and the support
shown to their families has been
overwhelming.
We must never forget what the Legion
stands for, and always Remember those
who gave the ultimate sacrifice, their
lives for our freedom.
Yours in Comradeship,
Wes & Mary Ann Chambers

Our Remembrance Day Services
took place in our auditorium at 9:30
a.m. Sunday morning with Reverand
Retired Mayor George Youmatoff con-
ducting the service. The pianist duties
were carried out by Laura Radford.
Our auditorium was filled to capacity
with Brownies, Guides, Cubs and
Scouts from the Clinton and Vanastra
area, as well as our membership and
ladies auxiliary with insufficient space
to stand. It was the largest attendance
experienced for many a year for this
annual event. The parade to the Ceno-
taph was under the direction of parade
Marshall John Lawson, again the best
attendance for many a year. The
Parade was headed by our pipe band
followed by our VC in honor of Cple.
Minor carried by Comrade John
Deeves, followed by our color party
and branch officers and members.
Bringing up the rear of our parade
were Brownies, Guides, Cubs and
Scouts and their leaders.

Clothes for the office, a night on the
town or for lounging around the house
were modeled to a full house at the
Benmiller Inn on November 6. The
fashion show, which also included flo-
ral arrangements by Board and Batten
of Clinton, was held as a fundraiser for
the Huron -Perth -Bruce Chapter of
Epilepsy for Epilepsy month.
Marj Vere of the Huron County
Chapter, estimates 120-125 people
took in the show, raising $973.41. "I
was pleased with the way it went," she
said. "The floral arrangements by Jane
Groves added a special touch of
Christmas to the show." The show,
entitled Festive Fashions and Christ-
mas Creations, showed off men's and
ladies' co-ordinates, sportswear, night-

Motivation comes from within. That
is what guest speaker Pat Stapleton
had to say to a packed auditorium in
the Clinton Town Hall on October
17th. Mr. Stapleton, who currently lives
in Strathroy, was a member of the orig-
inal Team Canada who played and
beat the Soviet Union in 1974. He was
at the town hall to address members of
the Clinton Business Improvement
Area. In his speech "Motivation and
Positive Thinking'; Mr. Stapleton
touched on his career as an athlete.
"After being involved in hockey for
over 40 years, I found out that I could
use my training as an athlete in every
day life," he said.
According to Mr. Stapleton, part of
being successful in business or sports
is to set your own goals and objectives.
These goals should be written down,
evaluated and revised.
"If you clearly define what it is you
want, write it down on a piece of paper.
If you don't set your own goals, some-
one will set them for you."

It's beginning to look a lot like
Christmas, as Clinton businesses have
started decorating in preparation for
Friday night's Central Huron Santa
Claus Parade. The parade, featuring
two bands, floats and old St. Nick him-
self, will get underway Friday night at
6:30 p.m., and make its way through
the downtown core of Clinton. Janet
Cameron, chair of the Santa Claus
Parade Committee, said that all parade
participants are requested to have
their floats in place by 5:30 p.m. this
Friday night, Nov 15. The parade will
depart from the corner of John and
North Streets.
